Global Dental Imprint Solutions Market Size Grows to $1.85 Billion for the Year
At the end of 2025, expenditures on the global market for solutions for obtaining dental impressions reached $1.85 billion. More than a third of this amount fell on the North American region. The corresponding data is contained in the Fortune Business Insights study, the results of which are presented on February 11, 2026.
A dental impression is a highly accurate replica of dentition and tissue required to create quality prostheses, crowns, veneers, bridges, eliners and orthodontic apparatuses. To obtain such casts, impression spoons of various types and special materials are used - silicones, alginates, gypsum and thermoplastic masses.
One of the market drivers, the authors of the study call the shift towards digital impressions. These are highly accurate 3D images of the dentition, which are formed through an intraoral scanner. This method provides a number of significant advantages over traditional casts. In particular, a higher level of comfort is achieved: there is no unpleasant taste and smell of materials, which is especially important for sensitive patients. In addition, accuracy is improved, and the data obtained during scanning can be instantly transmitted to the laboratory, which speeds up the manufacture of products. The result of the treatment can be simulated on a computer even before the actual start of work.
An increase in the number of dental procedures has a stimulating effect on the industry. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 3.7 billion people suffer from oral diseases. Untreated tooth decay of permanent teeth is the most common pathological condition in the world, diagnosed in 2.5 billion people. Severe periodontitis - the main reason for the complete loss of teeth - affects 267 million people, most of whom are elderly people. In addition, about 380 thousand new cases of oral cancer are detected annually. All this leads to an increase in demand for dental structures to restore the shape, function and aesthetics of the teeth, as well as correct the bite. As a result, sales of solutions for obtaining dental impressions are increasing.
Another factor in growth is the aging of the population. According to WHO forecasts, the global number of people aged 60 and over will increase from 1.1 billion in 2023 to 1.4 billion in 2030 and 2.1 billion in 2050. Older people are more susceptible to oral diseases, which creates an additional need for prosthetics.
The market is segmented into imprint materials, imprint spoons, intraoral scanners, digital scanning software, accessories, etc. In 2025, the largest share of revenue was provided by imprint materials - 37.2%. In regional terms, North America leads with 37.8%, or $0.7 billion. Significant industry players on a global scale are:
- Dentsply Sirona;
- Align Technology;
- 3Shape A/S;
- Straumann Group;
- Planmeca Oy;
- Envista Holdings;
- Carestream Dental;
- Ivoclar Vivadent AG;
- GC Corporation;
- Kulzer.
In 2026, the volume of the market in question is expected to reach $1.96 billion. At the same time, the United States will have $0.63 billion, Germany - $0.14 billion, Britain - $0.1 billion, China - $0.15 billion, India - $0.1 billion, Japan - $0.08 billion. Fortune Business Insights analysts believe that in the future, the CAGR will be 6.7%. Thus, by 2034, costs may increase to $3.3 billion.[1]
Sales of kits for filling teeth at home have increased significantly in Russia
In July 2025, it became known that the supply of goods for independent filling of teeth at home on Russian online sites increased 3.3 times in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. The average cost of such a "repair kit" increased to ₽908 against the original ₽150 - 200.
According to Izvestia, specialists from the JVO Studio e-commerce management platform have recorded a significant increase in the number of advertisements for the sale of temporary seals for home use. On average, about 2 thousand offers of such goods are posted on Internet sites.
An analysis of the card of one of the largest sellers showed that over the year he sold about 44 thousand sets for home sealing. On average, this retailer sold 118 self-treatment dental kits daily.
Consumers use such kits to eliminate tooth decay, chipping, darkening and other visually noticeable tooth defects. Buyers self-install temporary fillings, avoiding visiting dental clinics.
Experts call the increase in the cost of professional dental services the main reason for the growth in demand. According to the analytical center "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD," in June 2025 the average check for dental services reached ₽10,9 thousand, which is 15% higher than the level of 2024.
The top popular dental services include anesthesia, dental caries treatment, dental imaging and orthodontics. In 2024, the increase in the average check in dentistry was 18-20%, and the number of calls increased by 15-17%.
Medical centers are raising prices due to the rising cost of materials and operating costs. This encourages Russians to look for alternative ways to solve dental problems at home.[2]
2024: Worldwide Dental Equipment and Consumables Sales Reach $39.66 Billion for the Year
At the end of 2024, the global market for dental equipment and consumables amounted to $39.66 billion. The North American region accounted for almost 40% of global costs. Such data are presented in a study by Precedence Research, the results of which Zdrav.Expert reviewed at the end of June 2025.
The industry is showing sustained positive dynamics, attributed to people's growing awareness of oral health, an increasing elderly population, advances in technology, and demand for aesthetic dental procedures. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), released in March 2025, almost 3.7 billion people suffer from various oral diseases. Moreover, in most cases, such ailments can be prevented. Against this background, the need for dental services is growing, which entails an increase in sales of relevant equipment and consumables, such as dental implants, bridges, braces, eliners, etc.
Artificial intelligence has a significant impact on the market. Such algorithms are able to analyze medical data, including X-rays, with high efficiency to identify problems and predict the likelihood of dental and gum diseases. This minimizes errors associated with the human factor. In addition, AI makes recommendations for treatment taking into account the state of the oral cavity and the anatomical characteristics of a particular patient. 3D modeling with AI helps in the creation of implants or prostheses. Specialized AI-based navigation systems help surgeons with complex operations.
The development of the industry is facilitated by a change in lifestyle. As urbanization increases, the prevalence of major oral diseases in the world continues to increase. This is primarily due to the insufficient intake of fluoride into the body (from tap water, as well as toothpaste and other oral hygiene products), as well as the spread of cheap foods with a high sugar content. As a result, people are more likely to seek help from dental clinics.
The study said that from a geographical point of view, North America was in the lead in 2024 with a share of 39%. In particular, in the United States, costs were estimated at $11.6 billion. In second place is the Asia-Pacific region with 30%: the highest rates of development are recorded here. Europe closes the top three, which accounted for 21% of global spending. This is followed by Latin America at 7%. Another 3% were provided by the Middle East and Africa.
The market is segmented into equipment and consumables: in 2024, the share of costs was 18% and 82%, respectively. Significant players on a global scale are named:
- 3M;
- Institut Straumann AG;
- Henry Schein;
- Angelalign Technology;
- Shofu;
- Dentsply Sirona;

- Zimmer Biomet;
- Coltene;
- Biolase;
- Envista Holdings;
- Vatech.
In 2025, sales of dental equipment and consumables worldwide are expected to amount to $44.35 billion. Precedence Research analysts believe that in the future, the CAGR will be at 11.82%. As a result, by 2034, costs could increase to $121.22 billion. The growing number of patients with oral diseases, the demand for cosmetic procedures, an aging population and advanced developments in dental products are the key factors driving the market.[3]
