2024
Sales of metal doors in Russia for the year increased by 8.9% to ₽109,3 billion
The Russian metal door market has shown a recovery after two years of stagnation, increasing in value terms to ₽109,3 billion in 2024 with a supply of about 300 thousand tons, which exceeds the previous period by 8.9% and is approaching historical highs. The positive dynamics were the result of increased housing construction, growing consumer demand and technological innovation in the industry after a slowdown period in 2022-2023. Analytical data presented by GuideMarket at the end of August 2025.
The metal entrance door market has overcome the stagnation phase, which lasted two years with sales at 275.1 thousand tons. The segment relates to durable goods and plays a key role in housing and commercial construction, including entrance doors for residential buildings, office buildings and industrial facilities.
The main drivers of growth in 2024 were an increase in construction activity and a recovery in consumer demand. According to Rosstat, housing commissioning amounted to 132.4 million square meters, which is 30% more than in 2018. The massive construction of apartment buildings and cottage villages provided a stable demand for metal entrance doors.
The non-residential construction segment also demonstrated positive dynamics. For the period 2018-2024, the increase in the commissioning of non-residential buildings amounted to 24.3%, which is especially important for the metal door market, since commercial facilities have increased requirements for the reliability of structures.
Consumer preferences remain stable in favor of metal structures. According to the online survey "GuideMarket," 75.5% of respondents preferred metal entrance doors against alternative materials. The main reasons for choosing buyers are reliability, anti-hacking protection, durability and minimal maintenance requirements.[1]
Sales of metal entrance doors increased by 40% to 4.7 million units
Sales of metal entrance doors in Russia in 2020-2024 increased by 40% - from 3.3 million to 4.7 million units. The largest increase was in 2021 and amounted to 23% compared to 2020. Market growth was ensured by the action of the preferential mortgage program approved by the Russian Government in 2020. This is evidenced by data from the BusinesStat study, published in May 2025.
According to BusinesStat, the large-scale preferential mortgage program completed its operation in July 2024. However, some mortgage programs continue to operate, albeit on less favorable conditions for borrowers. In 2024, metal door sales continued to grow at a rate of 7.3%.
Operators of the metal entrance door market note a decrease in demand from builders of apartment buildings. At the same time, sales to individual developers are growing. The growth of demand for metal doors is facilitated by government programs for the construction and modernization of social facilities.
Sales to retail and hotel facilities are increasing. This compensates for the decline in demand from multi-storey housing developers and supports the overall market dynamics. Diversification of the customer base helps manufacturers maintain stable sales volumes.
BusinesStat analysts believe that the positive effect of preferential mortgage programs will continue for the near future. This is due to the commissioning and decoration of objects already acquired as part of the mortgage, despite the fact that most programs were closed in mid-2024.
Several leading enterprises of the industry operate on the Russian market of metal entrance doors:
- Dorhan-Trading House LLC;
- NPO Promet LLC;
- LLC Ferroni Yoshkar-Ola"";
- LLC PO Doors Furniture;
- LLC Thorex"."
These companies occupy a leading position in the Russian market of metal entrance doors and provide a significant share of total production.[2]
2023
1.4% reduction in entrance door production to 4.51 million units
In 2023, about 4.51 million metal entrance doors were produced in Russia. This is 1.4% less compared to 2022, when the volume of output was estimated at 4.58 million units. Such data are given in the BusinesStat study, the results of which were published in mid-December 2024.
It is noted that in the formed situation, Russian manufacturers of metal entrance doors faced a number of difficulties. A further increase in production volumes is possible subject to the purchase of additional equipment. But metalworking machines are a scarce and expensive commodity, and competing for them with enterprises working for the military-industrial complex is becoming more and more difficult. In addition, the growth of the Bank of Russia key rate has a negative impact on the industry.
According to estimates, in 2019, 3.02 million metal entrance doors were produced in the Russian Federation. A year later, an increase of 17.4% was recorded with a final result of 3.54 million units. In 2021, the volume of output increased by 25.8% - to 4.46 million units, and in 2022 an increase was recorded at 2.6%.
In general, in 2019-2023, the production of the products under consideration in Russia increased by 49.3%. Among the significant players in the industry, Dorhan-Trading House LLC, NPO Promet LLC, LLC, Ferroni Yoshkar-OlaON Doors Furniture LLC, LLC, and Thorex others are named.
| Despite the fact that demand for products grew throughout the entire five-year period (2019-2023), by the end of the period, manufacturers faced objective factors that limited the potential for production growth. In 2022, the growth rate slowed down to 2.6% compared to the previous year, and in 2023, the production of metal entrance doors decreased by 1.4%, the BusinesStat study says.[3] |
In Russia, door production increased by 2.7%, to 21.69 million doors
In 2023, approximately 21.69 million doors were produced in Russia. This is 2.7% more compared to 2022, when the volume of production of these products was estimated at 21.12 million units. Such data are reflected in the BusinesStat study, the results of which were published at the end of November 2024.
The review looks at wooden interior doors, metal entrance doors, as well as plastic doors. Among the significant market players are named Dorhan - Trading House LLC, NPO Promet LLC, Sibagropromstroy JSC, Amega LLC, Anker Industry LLC, etc.
According to estimates, in 2019, about 13.9 million doors were produced in the Russian Federation. A year later, the figure increased by 16.7%, reaching 16.23 million units. In 2021, an increase of another 29.9% was recorded with a final result of 21.08 million units. In 2022, against the background of the formed geopolitical situation, the growth rate slowed down to 0.2%. In general, the steady positive dynamics is due to an increase in housing construction due to the action of preferential mortgage programs in new buildings, the prolongation of the maternity capital program, as well as the development of the individual housing construction market.
In the period from 2019 to 2023, door production in Russia rose by 56%. Moreover, in 2023, demand exceeded the capabilities of manufacturers: all large enterprises were provided with orders for about three months in advance. Restraining factors hindering the faster development of the industry are labor shortages and difficulties with the purchase of additional equipment due to the high interest rate on loans.
At the same time, by the end of 2023, the situation in the industry stabilized. Manufacturers have adapted to new conditions, solved many issues related to imported raw materials, supply chains, components and, as a result, the quality of products and their pricing.[4]
Interior door sales up 75% over 4 years
In 2019-2023, sales of wooden interior doors in Russia increased by about 75% - from 7.8 million to 13.7 million units. One of the key growth factors was the increase in housing construction due to the action of preferential mortgage programs. This is stated in the review of BusinesStat, presented in early February 2024.
The statistics take into account doors of different designs (swing, sliding, folding, pendulum), made according to various technologies (panel, shield, chase, royal). Wood boards or wood arrays can be used as material. Significant players in the Russian market are Profildoors, PC Volkhovets, VFD, KMDK Soyuz-Center and TD Mario Rioli.
Analysts note that the industry is showing stable growth, despite macroeconomic challenges and a worsening geopolitical situation. The share of imported doors in the Russian market is small, and in general the industry does not depend on the supply of products from abroad. In addition, despite interest rate spikes and general price increases, in the context of the crisis, real estate investments were in high demand among Russians.
In 2020, it is estimated that approximately 8.72 million wooden interior doors were sold in Russia, which is 11.4% more than in the previous year. In 2021, a sharp jump followed: demand rose by 35.5% - to 11.82 million units. The main driver was the high rate of commissioning of new housing in the country. In 2022, the growth rate decreased to 13.4%, and the final result was 13.4 million units. Against the background of sanctions, domestic manufacturers faced difficulties in purchasing imported components from Europe. Russian companies had to urgently look for both alternative supply routes and new suppliers, including in the domestic market.[5]
