2026: GOST approval

On December 30, 2025 Russia , the national standard GOST R 53246-2025 "Information Technologies. Structured cable systems. General technical requirements. " The document replaces GOST R 53246-2008.

The Autonomous Non-Profit Organization (ANO) "Smart MKD," LLC "Incab," LLC "Hyperline" and JSC "Optical Fiber Systems" took part in the development of the new standard. The adopted document establishes general requirements for structured cable systems. The cable system, normalized by the standard, provides transmission from the connector to the connector of active network equipment of various signals, including telephone, all kinds of data and video signals, as well as remote power current.

The order on approval of GOST R 53246-2025 issued by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart). The document is assigned to the technical committee for standardization of the N022 "Information Technologies." The Federal State Budgetary Institution "Russian Institute of Standardization" was instructed to place the standard on the official website in the prescribed manner. The adopted GOST comes into force on February 1, 2026.

The previous standard GOST R 53246-2008 was developed taking into account the main provisions of the international standard ISO/IEC 11801:2002 "Information technologies. Universal cable system on the territory of the user "and a number of American standards. The document covers structured cable systems (SCS) capable of servicing various types of commercial buildings and supporting a variety of applications (such as voice, data, text, image and video). The standard establishes the general design requirements for the basic elements of a structured cable system based on a twisted pair of conductors and fiber optic components.^[1]
