The Ministry of Economic Development received 20 applications for "golden visas" with 1.2 billion rubles of investments. This was told by the deputy head of the department Dmitry Volvach. According to him, this is the initial amount, since the appeals indicate the minimum amount of investment required to obtain a residence permit. The requirements for the volume of investments depend on the basis on which the application is submitted.

By mid-November 2023, applications for a "golden visa" in Russia came from citizens of China, the USA, Germany, Serbia, Georgia, Turkey, Algeria and other countries. So far, no documents have been issued.

The amount of investments in applications is only a tenth of the projected investment for this year. According to forecasts of the Ministry of Economic Development, in the future investments will grow and will amount to 40 billion rubles annually.

For foreigners, projects in the field of logistics, the agro- and chemical industry, the oil and gas industry may be interesting, says Denis Perepelitsa, associate professor of the Department of World Financial Markets and Fintech of the PRUE named after G.V. Plekhanova. Russian light industry and mechanical engineering are also significantly underinvested, in conditions of the need for rapid import substitution, they can show high growth rates, the expert said in a conversation with Izvestia.

In the CIS countries, in Germany and the USA, there are many former compatriots who are close to Russian business culture, added Olga Panina, head of the Department of State and Municipal Administration of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. These people know Russian and are ready to do business here, she explained.

The department believes that the practice of "golden visas" will allow foreigners to issue invitations to enter Russia for their relatives, to enter the territory of the Russian Federation without a visa. In addition, this will allow foreigners to have access to free medicine, education and social support programs on a par with Russians.^[1]
