2023: Moscow became the leader in the ranking of world megacities for innovation

Moscow became the leader in the ranking of world megacities in innovation, which was compiled by the Institute of Statistical Research and Knowledge Economics of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics." On April 3, 2023, the mayor of the Russian capital Sergei Sobyanin wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Moscow ranked first in terms of the Innovation Infrastructure index. More than 100 coworking spaces and 3 innovative clusters operate in the city, - said Sobyanin.

Experts also recognized Moscow as one of the most attractive cities in the world for tourists. It is in second place in terms of the number of theaters, museums and galleries, in third place in terms of unique places and attractions, and is also in the top 5 in terms of the number of stadiums.

In addition, the Russian capital entered the top ten leaders in the overall rating of innovation attractiveness, assessing the results of technological development, the state of creative industries and the urban environment. According to Yevgeny Kutsenko, director of the Russian Cluster Observatory Center at the Higher School of Economics, the 2023 rating covered 200 cities in 53 countries. Almost 70% of the leading cities in innovation are in only 10 countries.
