2024: Consumer electronics sales in Uzbekistan grew by 25% over the year to reach 6.5 million units
On September 4, 2025, BusinesStat analysts reported that 6.5 million units of consumer electronics were sold in Uzbekistan in 2024. The growth was 25% compared to 2023, when sales were at 5.2 million units.
For the period from 2020 to 2024, the market doubled - from 3 million units to 6.5 million. In 2021, sales reached 4.3 million units, which meant an increase of 42% compared to 2020. In 2022, 4.9 million units arrived on the market (plus 15%). In 2023, sales amounted to 5.2 million units (an increase of 5%). In 2024, the indicator reached a maximum of 6.5 million devices, which reflects the acceleration of dynamics.
The growth in demand is explained by a number of factors. BusinesStat analysts point to an increase in population and an increase in urbanization. The development of mobile communications, the expansion of e-commerce and access to interactive services had an additional impact. An important role was played by the popularity of technology necessary for remote work and study, which was especially manifested during the pandemic and remained relevant in subsequent years.
Among the institutional measures stand out projects to legalize the market. Since 2019, the UzIMEI system has been operating, which records the unique codes of mobile devices and associates them with the owner's number. According to experts, this helped to limit the illegal import of phones and ensure transparency of sales. In 2020, the introduction of the national Asl Belgisi digital labeling system began, designed to combat illegal traffic in equipment. From 2022 to 2023, mandatory labeling was extended to televisions and monitors.
Sales of mobile phones and laptops grew most dynamically in 2020-2024. The volume of sales of mobile devices has tripled, and portable computer equipment has doubled. Experts attribute this to the low initial market saturation and measures to combat gray imports.[1]
