Local computer network (LAN) - the network covering rather small territory or group of buildings. LAN allows to integrate computing devices and provides high data transfer rate between them. The local computer network can be a part of a global network, to be connected with other local network or to be completely autonomous (the network covers only computing devices which are a part of this local network).

2016: "Magic quadrant" of Gartner
In August, 2016 the Gartner analytical company published "a magic quadrant" for infrastructure of access wire and wireless local area networks (Gartner Magic Quadrant for wired and wireless LAN access infrastructure). Cisco and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) were among leaders.
Noting Cisco advantages, experts noted "capability implement the drawn-up plans" and "completeness of strategy" and also development of Connected Mobile Experience (CMX) technology thanks to which the network will be transformed from simple means of connection to the outside world to a source of detailed information on what happens in the company.
In Gartner referred work with two lines of the equipment of the access level which have different functions to weaknesses of the American producer and are developed by development teams independent from each other. Besides, specialists pay attention to incompatibility of user interfaces and lack of uniform functions for security, network management, implementation the politician and uses of the guest modes.
The HPE company was also carried to leaders of Gartner Magic Quadrant for wired and wireless LAN access infrastructure. Thanks to purchase of Aruba Networks in 2015 for $3 billion HPE a year later occupied nearly 20% of the market of devices of wire line access and more than 10% of a wireless segment.
In the report of Gartner it is mentioned "high degree of satisfaction" of users of the solutions Aruba ClearPass, a broad spectrum of the HPE switches with a lifelong guarantee and free three years' technical support of the majority of the Aruba switches and the solutions HPE FlexNetwork and OfficeConnect.
As for the barriers containing HPE-Aruba growth, here analysts called absence in Aruba Central of functionality ClearPass and AirWave and also difference in levels of support of a switching equipment Aruba in the products AirWave and ClearPass.

In 2015 Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Cisco were called leaders of the published Gartner of "a magic quadrant" for infrastructure of access wire and wireless local area networks. The sector of applicants (Challengers) included Huawei.
