2024: Global Orthodontics Market Growth to $7.61 Billion
In 2024, costs in the global orthodontics market reached $7.61 billion. About 45% of this amount fell on the North American region. Such data are presented in a study by Fortune Business Insights, the results of which were released on April 8, 2025.
Orthodontics is one of the narrow areas of dentistry that focuses on the study of etiology, diagnosis, methods of prevention and treatment of dental abnormalities. Specialists in this profile solve problems such as violation of facial symmetry, abnormal displacement of the jaw, violation of the position of the teeth in the oral cavity, clicks during displacement of the jaw, difficulties with chewing food, various bite defects, etc. Therapy often involves the installation of various orthodontic structures - bracket systems, eliners and trainers.
Oral and dental health is considered a major public health concern worldwide, the study says. The prevalence of dental problems, such as malocclusion, tooth loss, or decay, is increasing among adults on a global scale. This contributes to the expansion of the orthodontics segment. The hardware method of treatment is considered the most common in this area: it involves a targeted distribution of the load on the dentition and other zones of the jugular system. The easiest way is to correct the wrong bite in childhood. At the same time, analysts note, there is a noticeable increase in the number of adult patients seeking orthodontic treatment, which is due to the desire to improve the aesthetics of the teeth.
Technological advances, including implementation, and artificial intelligence machine learning methods have a significant impact on the industry. In 3D printing particular, AI algorithms improve the effectiveness of treatment planning. At the same time, 3D printers speed up the production of personalized products.
But there are also deterrents. In many regions, orthodontic treatment is not fully covered by insurance, which creates financial difficulties for patients. There is also a shortage of qualified specialists in the relevant field. Poor-quality treatment can lead to numerous adverse consequences, such as severe pain, periodontal disease, dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint, etc.
The study authors segment the market into consumables and tools. In 2024, the lion's share of revenue was provided by products of the first category. From a geographical point of view, North America is leading, where costs amounted to $3.42 billion against $3.26 billion in 2023: the dominance of the region is due to the growing number of adult patients interested in orthodontic procedures. Europe is in second place, and the Asia-Pacific region closes the top three. In general, the development of the industry is facilitated by the growing awareness of the population about the benefits of orthodontic treatment and the increase in the availability of such services in certain regions. Significant players in the global market are:
- Dentsply Sirona;
- American Orthodontics;
- Institut Straumann AG;

Fortune Business Insights analysts believe that in the future, the CAGR in the market under consideration will be 17.4%. As a result, by 2032, costs could exceed $26 billion.[1]
