2024: Cosmetics production in Moscow increased by almost 20%

The capital's enterprises for the production of cosmetic products are showing steady growth. At the end of 2024, the production of soap, detergents, cleaning and polishing agents, as well as perfume and cosmetic products increased in Moscow. This was announced on February 24, 2025 by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Government of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.

In 2024, the capital's businesses produced about 200 million shampoos, varnishes and other hair care products, over 99.3 million skincare units, about 31.1 million lip and eye makeup products, more than 5.7 million toothpaste tubes, nearly 3.5 million perfume bottles and about three million shaving units.

Cosmetics, care and hygiene products produced by Moscow factories are highly popular among consumers due to their efficiency and high quality. The growing demand for products of Moscow enterprises confirms the volume of shipment - in 2024 it increased by almost a third and exceeded 92.3 billion rubles, - said the Minister of the Government of Moscow, head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Anatoly Garbuzov.

The development of the industry is facilitated by active support for the city. More than 20 effective instruments are available to companies, including preferential investment loans, the ability to rent land from the city at a preferential rate during the construction of an enterprise within the framework of large-scale investment projects (MaIP), assignment of special statuses and other instruments.

2022: Production of cosmetics and perfumes in Moscow increased by 6.9%

In 2022, Moscow enterprises produced a total of more than 130 million makeup and skin care products, which is 8.5% higher than the volume of supplies a year ago. The production of all types of cosmetics, perfumes and hygienic products in the capital in 2022 increased by 6.9% compared to 2021. This was announced in early March 2023 by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov.

According to him, by the beginning of March 2023, there are more than 30 cosmetic production enterprises in Moscow, which employ more than 4 thousand people. The capital's enterprises produce cosmetics, care and hygiene products, as well as perfumes for adults and children. Efimov linked the growth in production of such products with additional demand for domestic products due to the growing range of local enterprises and brands, as well as the departure of some foreign manufacturers from the Russian market.
