IX in BC: Uyuk culture is part of the Scythian world
Uyuk culture is an early Iron Age culture in southern Siberia, which was part of the Scythian world and was located on the eastern edge of its range.
The culture dates from the 9th-3rd centuries BC and was distributed in Tuva and its adjacent territories of Mongolia.
The population of this culture is mainly represented by Caucasians, as well as Caucasians with Mongoloid admixture, representatives of the Mongoloid type are less recorded and mainly in female series. By the sunset of the Uyuk culture, the Mongoloid component was growing.
For the Uyuk culture, burial mounds are typical with characteristic submerged log cuttings with a roll, in a deep square pit.
The inventory of the Dogee Baara-II burial ground of the Uyuk culture is located 8 km north of Kyzyl and consists of the classical Scythian triad: horse equipment, animal-style jewelry and corresponding weapons. Bones of horses were also found in the graves.
This middle-aged man is a representative of the Caucasian race of the Nordic type, possibly has a small Mongoloid impurity in the area of zygomatic bones, since they protrude quite strongly.
