2023: The most profitable assets for investment in Russia are named
On January 10, 2024, the analytical company FinExpertiza published the results of a study in which it listed the 12 most profitable investment instruments in 2023. The selected assets were ranked by the level of ruble income, which could be obtained for the invested 100 thousand rubles.
According to FinExpertiza, with a passive investment strategy, the most profitable at the end of 2023 were bitcoin (brought a profit of 176.4 thousand rubles), foreign shares (plus 56.7 thousand rubles) and Russian shares (plus 45.6 thousand rubles), gold (plus 37.5 thousand rubles) and deposits in euros (plus 37.5 thousand rubles).
In the case of a speculative strategy, the most profitable were bitcoin (plus 204 thousand rubles), foreign shares (plus 61.8 thousand rubles), Russian shares (plus 59.5 thousand rubles), as well as euros (plus 56.5 thousand rubles) and a dollar (plus 52.4 thousand rubles).
At the same time, residential real estate remained a tool for preserving capital, but ceased to be a means of investment. After all, the conditions for preferential mortgage lending programs have tightened, apartment prices have increased significantly, and rates on market housing loans have increased. Since real estate is a less volatile asset, the maximum profit from investments in the Moscow real estate index could be 11.4 thousand rubles. for every 100 thousand rubles, which only slightly exceeds income from a passive strategy, noted in FinExpertiza.
The study says that in 2023, Russian shares should have been purchased in January or at a slight drawdown in February, and sold at peaks in September or October, and then the income on them could reach 59.5 thousand rubles.
To earn money on currency exchange operations, it was advisable to buy euros in mid-January, and sell in August, which would increase the invested 100 thousand rubles. by 56.5 thousand rubles.[1]
2020: Bitcoin and gold brought Russians the most profit
Bitcoin and gold brought Russians the most profit in 2020. Such data are provided in the analytical service FinExpertiza.
According to experts referred to by the Vedomosti newspaper, when buying bitcoin for 100 thousand rubles in early 2020, by the end of December, it was possible to receive 354 thousand rubles in profit. The similar profitability of investments in gold amounted to 43.3 thousand rubles, in the shares of foreign companies - 40.7 thousand rubles.
FinExpertiza analysts recalled that in 2020, shares of some technology companies shot stronger than Bitcoin. For example, Tesla shares rose 7 times (more than 850% of ruble yield), and the paper of the vaccine manufacturer Novavax - 27 times (more than 3200% of ruble yield). Among Russian companies, Yandex distinguished itself, whose shares added 90% in price.
Least of all investors were pleased with investments in ruble deposits. From 100,000 rubles due to the bank at the beginning of 2020 at 7.3% (the average rate for January), by the end of December it was possible to count on income of 7300 rubles. But taking into account annual inflation of 4.9%, the real return on the deposit did not exceed 2.4%, FinExpertiza notes.
In general, investments in foreign currency assets turned out to be more profitable for Russian investors: cash dollars and euros brought greater returns than Russian stocks, OFZs and corporate bonds.
Experts interviewed by the publication do not recommend that novice investors invest in cryptocurrency, since such "investments are extremely difficult to understand."
We would not recommend investments in this asset to investors who do not have significant investments in classical asset classes (shares, bonds and real estate), "said Nikolai Shakarov, director of investment consulting at Renaissance Capital.[2] |
