Roman Mailyan: We have no uninteresting ECM projects
In total in the electronic document management systems created on the Documentum platform by the company "Aydi. Technologies of management", more than 30 thousand users work already. Roman Mailyan, the CEO of the company argues on what is drivers for the Russian ESM/SED systems market and what wait for it perspective together with TAdviser.

TAdviser: Tell, please, about the main competences of your company, what do you do in addition to automation of electronic document management – or only to them?
Roman Mailyan: The main competences of our company are concentrated on creation of the integrated information systems for the large enterprises and the organizations having a difficult organization structure and structure of production and economic assets, first of all in the fuel and energy industry, mechanical engineering, telecommunications and public sector. The main activities of the company are: implementation, maintenance, development and development of electronic document management systems and managements of corporate data - Enterprise Content Management (ECM) on the Documentum platform and corporate systems of enterprise management on the SAP ERP platform, first of all solutions of asset management (EAM), support of intellectual resources of the enterprise - Business Intelligence (BI), the automated support of transformation of business, optimization of a system landscape (SLO).
TAdviser: Why you selected EDMS EMC Documentum as one of the key systems from the product line? How could practicians, implementers – what advantages of this platform against the background of other ECM systems available in the Russian market, you note?
Roman Mailyan: Key advantages of the Documentum platform is the scalability, multiple and flexible model of security, cross-platform, support of open standards integrated with the platform a subsystem of stream scanning and recognition of documents of Captiva. And also exclusive development of the solutions EMC and their deep interrelation with system and hardware solutions of the largest global manufacturers.
All above-mentioned, at the huge scales of the systems of our customers, is extremely important factor. In management systems for corporate data as, "the size matters anywhere". At all respect for the domestic ECM systems constructed strictly on domestic platforms at most of them an opportunity to accumulate extensive experience of intensive simultaneous operation by tens of thousands of users was not simple.
As for systems constructed on platforms of foreign vendors and their derivatives, the evidence of correctness of our choice is that by the number of implementations EMC Documentum with a huge separation advances all other western workflow systems in Russia. Besides, it is worth to remember that the EMC software products, unlike many others, timely receive the necessary certifications in the Russian state bodies, such as FSTEC and others working in information security field.
TAdviser: Who your main customers in the EDMS direction?
Roman Mailyan: Our customers largest for today – the companies of power industry which are present at all regions of Russia, servicing hundreds of power grid substations, hundreds of thousands of kilometers of the transmission lines together making the uniform national power grid (UNPG), such as FGC UES, Rosseti, IDGC of Centre, "MOESK Moscow United Electric Grid Company", TsIUS EEC, IDGC of Ural, "IDGC of the Northwest", Lenenergo and some other Rosseti affiliated enterprises. Besides, the circle of our customers gradually is replenished with the largest Russian engineering enterprises, such as "MIT Corporation". The total quantity of users of the systems which are developed / developed / supported by us across all Russia exceeds 30 thousand human.
TAdviser: What in your opinion do modern users want from an ECM system? What tools are most demanded now?
Roman Mailyan: It is no secret that competences of the personnel of customers occupied directly in business processes of corporate document flow and data management, to put it mildly, grow not such in high gear as that is required by the interests of business and management. Respectively, development and deepening of functionality of the ECM systems automating and supporting these processes should minimize risk of violation by the user of the regulations of business process set by customers. At the same time routine business processes, mostly, are already rather carefully automated. The focus is shifted to integration and interaction with other systems within end-to-end business processes.
TAdviser: Tell, please, about 1-2 most interesting projects implemented for the last year?
Roman Mailyan: The majority of our projects in the field of EDMS represent distribution and development of our basic of an ECM product – ASUD on the EMC Documentum platform. The number of users grows, a system is installed all in the new and new organizations, its functionality extends and goes deep, performance grows, integration with the increasing number of the different systems – from the "mini-EDMS" and 1C used by customers in small subsidiary companies before integration with the largest management systems based on SAP ERP is implemented. Among all these projects it is difficult to select some "the most interesting" - we have no uninteresting projects. Even, apparently, the routine problem of maintenance of commercial operation of the implemented systems, thanks to the permanent growth of requests of users for implementation all of new and new additional functionality, turns into extremely uncommon and technically difficult task.
It is possible to give ASUD JSC IDGC of the Northwest put into commercial operation on September 1, 2014 as the freshest example of implementation of our systems "from scratch". This project was remarkable the fact that except a problem of inclusion of IDGC of the Northwest in the general circuit of the module of Federation allowing to perform end-to-end document management between JSC Rosseti and DZO Rosseti the start of the organization of end-to-end document flow in the Society was given.
Before in "IDGC of the Northwest" each branch worked in itself: someone had systems, someone had completely paper document flow, and processing of joint documentation of executive office "IDGC of the Northwest" and branches was dragged very out on time and is not transparent. Already now each branch is provided with an opportunity to accelerate an approval process and executions of joint documents. If further "IDGC of the Northwest" increases number of users of ASUD, all participants of work with documents will have an opportunity of direct work with them in a single, "end-to-end" system.
TAdviser: How do you estimate the perspectives of cooperation with EMC? As far as do you accept partner conditions of the company? Whether partner events, training of specialists of partners are held by vendor?
Roman Mailyan: ID-Management Technologies are one of key partners of EMC, and perspective of our cooperation we highly appreciate very. From year to year the high partner status Information Intelligence Reseller of the Premier level is confirmed. Our practice on the products EMC is one of the largest in Eastern Europe. We constantly participate in partner actions of vendor, our specialists regularly undergo training and certification in EMC. Permanent exchange of experience and the best IT experts with EMC gives us the chance some of the first to use the appearing latest approaches and products as the tool of the solution of difficult tasks on the projects.
TAdviser: Tell, please, that personally you expect from the Russian market of EDMS for the next 1-2 years what trends will predominate?
Roman Mailyan: If to exclude an inflation factor, in the next few years the total amount of allocations in IT solutions will not grow. It is caused by the outlined downward tendency of revenues of the enterprises of fuel and energy complex remaining the engine of the Russian economy, including the IT industry. In the majority of the industries will be forced to leave the market or to be transformed considerably many extensive companies capable to exist only in the conditions of continuously accruing cash inflow. It is fair also for the IT industry in which field of activity for the modern companies which can reveal and effectively realize in the solutions customers needs as much as possible will be cleared away.
Our strategy for the next years – the growth strategy which is based on two principal components: deepening and development of the solutions proposed by us, including by their convergence with functionality of the adjacent systems, and on further distribution of our solutions among customers, including in branches of the economy, new to us, and public administration.
