2025: 11.4% revenue growth to $1.45 billion
In 2025, the revenue of Air Astana - the leading group of airlines (including the FlyArystan subsidiary) in the regions of Central Asia and the Caucasus - increased by 11.4% compared to the previous year and reached $1.45 billion. The net profit of the group decreased by $35.9 million - to $13.6 million (in 2024 - $49.4 million). This follows from the consolidated financial statements of the group for the fourth quarter and the full 2025 year, published on March 13, 2026.
According to reports, EBITDAR (profit before taxes, interest, depreciation, depreciation and rental expenses) increased by 0.8% to $321.2 million against $318.7 million in 2024. Margin pressure came from unscheduled Pratt & Whitney (VSD) engine withdrawals, as well as currency fluctuations.
Passenger traffic of the group increased by 7.9% and reached 9.7 million people. The indicator of maximum passenger-kilometers (PPCM) increased by 14.0% - to 22.0 billion. The growth was provided by an increase in international transportation capacities by 19.8%, while growth on domestic routes by 6.9%. Revenues on PPCM decreased by 2.3% (to 6.60 cents), but in the IV quarter an increase of 9.8% (to 7.18 cents) was recorded due to tariff adjustments and a focus on high-margin international directions.
The group continued to expand its route network, launching 25 new destinations in 2025, including flights to China, India, Southeast Asia and the Gulf countries. Codeshare agreements signed with China Southern Airlines and Air India.
The group's fleet at the end of 2025 consisted of 62 aircraft. In February 2026, an agreement was concluded with Boeing for the purchase of five Boeing 787-9 aircraft with options and purchase rights, deliveries are scheduled for 2032-2035. An agreement was signed with Airbus S.A.S. for the supply of 25 A320neo and A321neo aircraft in 2031-2034 with an option for another 25 units.
Cash and cash equivalents as of December 31, 2025 amounted to $472.9 million ($488.7 million a year earlier). The ratio of net debt to EBITDAR increased to 1.80x versus 1.24x in 2024.[1]
2024: Revenue growth of 12.4% to $1.3 billion
Kazakhstani air carrier Air Astana reported revenue growth of 12.4% in 2024 - up to $1.3 billion. Financial and operating results were published on March 14, 2025 by the press service of the group of companies.
According to Forbes, Air Astana and FlyArystan, part of the group, jointly transported 9 million passengers, which is almost 1 million more than in 2023. The total revenue and other income of the group, with the exception of one-time items, amounted to $1308 million against $1164 million a year earlier.
Operating profit excluding one-time items increased by 14.9% to $145.7 million (in 2023 - $126.8 million). Net income excluding one-time items increased by 6.0% to $65.2 million, up from $61.5 million in 2023.
The group's chief executive, Peter Foster, noted that the company achieved solid growth in its first year as a public company, fulfilling promises made in the IPO despite problems with carrying capacity and costs affecting the entire industry. Adjusted EBITDAR increased by 16.1% - to $338.6 million, ahead of the growth of PPCM (maximum passenger kilometers), an increase of 9.2%.
The airline's board of directors proposed to pay ordinary and special dividends in the total amount of 53.7 tenge (₽9,67) per common share and 214.8 tenge (₽38,66) per global depositary receipt. The total amount of dividend payments will be ₸19,1 billion (₽3,44 billion), including ₸6,3 billion (₽1,13 billion) ordinary and ₸12,8 billion (₽2,30 billion) special dividends. The amount of dividends must be approved by the annual general meeting of shareholders no later than May 31, 2025, and payments are planned to be made in mid-2025.[2]
2023: Revenue growth of 13.8% to $1.17 billion

2024: Penalty for data leakage of Kazakhstanis
On May 6, 2024, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that Kazakhtelecom and Air Astana were fined for leaking personal data of citizens. The total amount of recovery amounted to 369,200 tenge, or 76,900 rubles at the exchange rate as of the specified date. Companies were issued prescriptions for a period of one year.
It is said that on February 16, 2024, cybercriminals posted on the GitHub resource "leaking data from a Chinese company," which also contained personal information from Kazakhstanis. The Ministry of Digital Development, together with the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan and the State Technical Service (GTS), conducted unscheduled inspections in relation to Kazakhtelecom JSC and Air Astana JSC, as a result of which these legal entities were brought to administrative responsibility in connection with violation of information security requirements.
It is noted that the Ministry of Digital Development of the republic pays special attention to the protection of personal data of citizens. In particular, a leak was recorded at the University of KazNU named after Al-Farabi. It was established that an employee of a medical organization that acts on the basis of a contract with a university, on February 6, 2024, through Whatsapp, sent documents in Excel format with a list of students to undergo fluorographic research. This document, in addition to the full name of the students, contained information related to medical secrecy.
And on March 5, 2024, the GTS discovered a leak of "more than 2 million personal data of citizens" who are clients of MFO zaimer.kz (MFO Robokesh.kz LLP). According to the results of an unscheduled audit, an administrative fine was imposed on the organization in the amount of 500 MCI (monthly calculated indicator), or 1,846,000 tenge (about 384.5 thousand rubles[3]
