History
2025: Opening a new enterprise in the Murmansk region for the extraction of apatite-nepheline ores for ₽38 billion
In the Murmansk region, apatite-nepheline ore mining was launched at the Rasvumchorr Plateau facility, owned by the Kirov division of the Apatit mining and processing plant, the total project cost exceeded ₽38 billion. This was announced in December 2025 by the PhosAgro group of companies.
According to TASS, the facility has completed the initial stage of commissioning. December 2025 was marked by the receipt of the first batch of minerals. By the end of the year, the company intends to extract 150 thousand tons of raw materials. The next 2026 assumes an increase in volumes by 2.6 times with a mark of 390 thousand tons.
The total production capacity will be 6 million tons annually, this indicator is planned for 2034. The nine-year period will allow you to gradually increase volumes and prepare the necessary infrastructure. A gradual increase in production minimizes technological risks.
The head of the branch, Andrei Abrashitov, said that building up the mineral resource potential of the plant is among the priorities of Phosagro's investment strategy. He pointed out that this unit annually consumes up to 33% of the investment funds of the entire group of companies. The efficiency of investments is reflected in production achievements.
Andrei Abrashitov said that 2025 was marked by the establishment of maximum indicators for the volume of shipment of products per day and month. The annual results will show a record since the USSR production of apatite concentrate. This concentrate serves as a key component in the manufacture of phosphorus-containing fertilizers.
The initiative to create a new facility was approved in 2016 with the aim of developing deep deposits under the developed quarry of the Central Mine. The central facility has been operating since 1964 and during the period of operation by the quarry method ensured the extraction of more than 720 million tons of apatite-nepheline raw materials. Depletion of available surface reserves required a change in production technology.[1]
2020
For 2020, the company develops six Khibinskoye deposits: Kukisvumchorr, Yuksporskoye, Apatity Circus, Rasvumchorr Plateau, Koashvinskoye and Njorkpakhskoe.
2014
According to 2014 data, Apatit OJSC develops six deposits: Kukisvumchorr, Yuksporskoye, Apatity Circus, Rasvumchorr Plateau, Koashvinskoye and Njorkpakhskoe. The ore is mined from four mines: two underground and two open pit mines.
2012

2011
For 2011, Apatit OJSC is a mining and chemical complex, which includes four mines, two apatite-nepheline processing plants, railway and motor transport workshops, as well as other auxiliary divisions. Included in PhosAgro Group of Companies .

The main products - the world's most environmentally friendly apatite concentrate - are known to all manufacturers of phosphate fertilizers. The produced nepheline concentrate serves as a raw material for the production of alumina, is used in the glass and ceramic industries.
