On October 11, 2022, it became known about the infrastructure development project approved by the government of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. The document envisages the construction of an industrial park, an industrial technopark, an ecopark and a transport and logistics center.
To date, the most significant investment project for us is the comprehensive development of the territory of the former Azovstal plant. We have already begun to analyze this site, the site is 1 thousand 68 hectares. We proposed and received preliminary approval from the government for the creation of four different types of infrastructure inside this site, "said Andrei Shpilenko, head of the state concern Donbass Development Corporation. |
According to the head of the concern, the industrial technopark intends to test new technologies, the ecotechnopark will process sludge and slag waste into raw materials for building materials, the industrial and logistics center will help with the transportation of products, including by sea. Shipilenko noted that approximate calculations were made, according to which at least 15 thousand jobs should be created at the sites.
To date, we expect that on the territory of the industrial park there will be from four to six residents, on the territory of the industrial technopark - from 10 to 15 residents, on the territory of the ecopark - up to five to six residents, - he added. |
Earlier in October 2022, the Prime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic Vitaly Khocenko announced that the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol would be transformed into an industrial park until 2035. In August 2022, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin also said that a technopark with improvement elements would be created on the territory of Azovstal.[1]
