2020: Sale of 13 data centers of Equinix company for $750 million

On June 1, 2020 it became known that Equinix signed the binding agreement about purchase of 13 data processing centers from the Canadian telecommunication company Bell Business Markets (BCE). Transaction amount will be $750 million in cash (without attraction of actions). It is going to close it in the second half of 2020.

As of May, 2020 Equinix manages over 600 data centers on 5 continents. The customer base includes at the company contains more than 10 thousand organizations.

Using new data centers Equinix expects to meet demand for hybrid cloud environments — the model relevant during an era of digital transformation of business. And BCE will help it with it — within the agreement of the party intend to offer own and partner services for deployment of multicloud environments. Common offering will integrate telecommunication services and technology experience of BCE company with the global Equinix platform consisting of the interconnected data processing centers and partner ecosystems.

Besides, new data centers will be a part of the Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric platform which by means of technology of the program configured networks serves for connection of separate infrastructures of customers with separate infrastructures of other users of the platform, including providers of cloud services.[1]
