2025: Oil production in Belarus increased to 2 million tons over the year
Oil production in Belarus increased to 2.013 million tons in 2025 from 1.645 million tons in 2016. In 2026, Belorusneft plans to reach a level of 2.1 million tons. This was announced by the general director of the company Alexander Lyakhov at the end of January 2026.
It is noted that 2025 was a record for the drilling divisions of the company. More than 324,000 meters were drilled and 82 wells were drilled. In 2026, a new maximum is expected - 330 thousand meters and 100 wells.
Over the ten-year period of oil production in the country increased by 22.4%. The gradual increase in volumes reflects a consistent investment policy. The introduction of new technologies increases the efficiency of field development. The increase in the number of wells expands the production base.
A 5% increase in production is scheduled for 2026. Achieving the target will require drilling 100 wells. This is 18 wells more than in 2025.
The penetration of 324 thousand meters in 2025 was a record in the history of the company. Drilling crew productivity has reached its highest levels. Modernization of equipment reduced the time for well construction. The plan for 2026 provides for a further increase in drilling volumes.
A new maximum penetration of 330 thousand meters will require the mobilization of all drilling rigs. Year-round work will ensure the ambitious plan is met. Geological exploration data confirm the prospects for new areas.
Oil production in Belarus is carried out in the Pripyat oil and gas basin, located in the south of the country. The main fields are concentrated in the following areas:
- Rechitsky field (Gomel region);
- Ostashkovichskoye field (Gomel region);
- Vishanskoye field (Gomel region);
- Davydovskoye field (Gomel region);
- Zolotukhinskoye field (Gomel region);
- North Rechitsky field (Gomel region);
- Malodushinskoye field (Gomel region);
- Tishkovskoye field (Gomel region);

2024: Growth in oil production by 3.1% to 1.938 million tonnes
Belorusneft has achieved a record oil production rate of 1.938 million tons in 2024 over the past 29 years, which is 3.1% more than in 2023. This became known at the end of January 2025.
203 thousand tons of raw materials were extracted from new wells drilled in 2024. The company also managed to significantly increase its proven fuel reserves, exceeding the level of annual production by more than 700 thousand tons, which is the best indicator in the last 40 years.
Deputy General Director of Belorusneft Anton Serebrennikov noted the success in digitalizing production and increasing the volume of seismic and exploration work, which made it possible to achieve high results.
The CEO of the company, Alexander Lyakhov, announced plans to increase oil production to 2 million tons in 2025. In March 2024, the production forecast was 1.92 million tons, and in September it was adjusted to 1.93 million tons.
In 2023, oil production in Belarus amounted to 1.88 million tons, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2022 at 1.81 million tons. Until December 2021, the entire volume of oil produced in the republic was exported to Germany, after which the supplies were reoriented to Belarusian oil refineries.
Belorusneft, founded in 1966, carries out a full cycle of oil production, including the search, exploration and development of fields, well drilling, oil and associated gas production in Belarus, and also conducts activities in the oil sector of other countries. The staff of the enterprise exceeds 27 thousand employees.
The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategy for the development of the oil industry in Belarus, which includes the modernization of production and the introduction of modern exploration and production technologies.[2]
