The Calix, INK is solution provider for access networks with the headquarters in the USA (Petaluma, California). The solution portfolio "The unified access" (Unified Access) for access networks of FTTH consists of the software platforms, the hardware systems and services of vendor directed to transformation of business of broadband networks of telecom operators. The main focus Calix are gigabit passive optical networks of architecture of GPON FTTH.
History
1999
Beginning since 1999 the Calix company increased experience in development of solutions for broadband access networks and also No. 3 the producer of optical solutions of access of GPON/AE (Infonetics 2014) is a producer of multiservice platforms of access to the USA (60% of the market according to Infonetics’ 2014). Primary clients Calix in the USA along with Century Link and AT&T are more than 800 average and small telecom operators numbering subscriber base from several thousand to hundreds thousand subscribers.
2012
In 2012 the Calix entered international markets by acquisition of broadband access of division of Eriksson (Ericsson), in particular GPON of the BLM 1500 platform. Thus, such large operators as Rostelecom, MGTS, Kazakhtelecom, Transtelecom and others became customers of the company.
2015
For the beginning of 2015 the Calix implemented more than 100 thousand systems of access worldwide, more than 19 million interfaces of access, the company has more than 1400 clients.
The Calix advances the aid program in transformation of a business model of the telecom operator based on a cloud platform of Compass. To customers software solutions for management of subscribers, increase in revenue and service quality according to the SaaS model are proposed that allows to reorient capital investments on more aggressive marketing and quality improvements of service of subscribers.
Key differences of the solution Calix:
- First technical support, 15 years of examination in solutions broadband access;
- The Calix only in the industry implemented completely cloud solution of Kompass and continues to expand a range of products based on this platform;
- High quality of the equipment and a long cycle of life of the platform (the guarantee upon purchase is available for 10 years).
- The only modular 1U system in the industry with a possibility of a clustering and with an operating temperature range of-40 +65;
- An advanced management system CMS and a control interface of web gui save time of technical specialists for installation and fault finding;
- The low cost of ownership due to ediony service payment and simple interfaces;
- Accurate roadmap and strategy of development for solutions;
The equipment is certified by the Customs Union and the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications in March, 2014.
According to responses of the first customers, solution E7 of a series is a product with the high quality of execution of a hardware and program part, a flexible management system allowing to provide communication services with the highest quality at the minimum operating costs and the guaranteeing long lifetime of a product several times exceeding the term of return of the enclosed investments (up to 10 years of a guarantee upon purchase).
By data the Calix, the company spends more than 17% of an annual income on R&D, is an active supporter of certification of a product on compliance to industry standards of MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum), BBF (Broadband Forum), the leading participant of committee of ITU on the GPON standard.
2016
Unified Access devices
In May, 2016 the Calix company announced replenishment of a line of devices according to the concept of Unified Access. Being guided by a variety of technologies of access of the last mile which are actively used by providers, Unified Access provides consolidation of different types of subscribers on one access network.
Having provided a line of MDU devices (Multi-Dwelling unit) and CPE with support of the G.Fast standard in Russia and the CIS countries earlier, the Calix company suggested to use GPON as the universal transport for transfer of traffic of access networks allowing any operator of communication services to connect different types of devices: traditional subscriber devices of different levels, multiport MDU Ethernet, DSL and G.Fast devices and also equipment of B2B of subscribers and even base stations of mobile operators. Using mnogobrazy terminations of GPON of devices, operators in particular, have an opportunity to prolong life of copper infrastructure, having provided gigabit speeds on the existing Cat3 and Cat5 lines.
Taking into account that federal and regional telecom operators have specific features of creation of networks, devices of a line E7 is integrated into architecture and allow providers to pass to providing gigabit services, television of ultrahigh clearness and also Wi-Fi of new generation. Calix already develops the platforms capable to support the new PON standards of networks, such as XGS-PON and NG-PON2.
Calix will increase sales of optical access networks in regions of Russia
The Calix company expects to increase the rate of sales increase from 50% in 2015 to 70% in 2016, both in the world, and in Russia. The company also suggests to upgrade copper communications on G.Fast technology on the last miles that will allow to avoid logistic and economic difficulties at implementation of gigabit networks in apartment houses and cottage settlements.

The solutions Calix are developed for operators who see need of use of GPON technology and standards of broadband access for the purpose of improving competitiveness of services. The trend gaining popularity on 'management of subscriber experience' when operators begin to compete for quality of service, forces to be focused vendors on creation of flexible solutions with low operational cost due to reliability, simplicity of installation and diagnostics, existence of a convenient management system and high-quality technical support.
