2022: Qualcomm купила Cellwize Wireless Technologies
Cellwize Wireless Technologies is developing a platform for managing mobile networks. Chime's cloud solution uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to plan the deployment of cellular operator networks without human intervention. The technology is also used to automate the optimization of 2G/3G/4G/5G generation networks, as well as to ensure the reliability of mobile networks.
Chime allows cellular operators to modernize and manage their own coverage network, introduce rapid innovation with unprecedented flexibility, scalability and maneuverability, which reduces operator costs and accelerates the transition to 5G technologies. Cellwize has been deploying networks for Verizon, Telefonica, Vivo and other major customers. According to Cellwize's own data, by June 2022, the company's platform is used in the operation of 3 million cell towers, which belong to 40 mobile operators around the world.
In mid-June 2022, the sale of Cellwize Wireless Technologies to Qualcomm was announced. How much the American chip developer paid for the purchased company is not reported. Before the transaction, the main owner of Cellwize was the Kazakh IT company DAR Alidara Utemuratova.
As noted by SiliconANGLE, Cellwize technologies will help Qualcomm expand its presence in the market for solutions for telecom operators. Qualcomm is a major manufacturer of so-called baseband chips that are installed in smartphones to connect them to cellular networks. In recent years, the company has also begun offering dedicated processors for cellular 5G towers. Through the acquisition of Cellwize, Qualcomm will be able to offer its 5G chips along with carrier network management software, according to portal reviewers.[1]
