2017: Purchase of telecom segment from Linx

Linxdatacenter completed the sale of the telecom segment of the Chinese company CITIC Telecom CPC in early 2017. China's CITIC Telecom CPC International Limited, owned by conglomerate CITIC Group, has acquired Netherlands-listed Linxtelecom B.V. and 13 of its subsidiaries. The deal opens the door for companies to China's closed market and expands data center and cloud business opportunities in Russia and Poland, Linxdatacenter told CNews. Part of the deal will also be the sale of a high-speed 120 Gbps underwater fiber optic cable connecting the countries of Scandinavia, the Baltic states and Russia, and a data center in Tallinn. In addition, 40 points of presence in the markets of 20 countries, represented by 13 legal entities, will be transferred to the Chinese side.

The company began negotiations to sell the business in early 2016. Several large operators from the United States and Europe claimed the purchase.

"The partnership with
CITIC was most in line with Linxdatacenter's strategy and our customers' growing interest in entering the China and Asia-Pacific markets. Since up to 60% of Linxdatacenter's financial results are provided by operations in Russia, the priority of this region was obvious to us, "explained Heiko H. Koop, Chief Executive Officer of Linxdatacenter and Linxtelecom
.

The amount of the contract was not disclosed. Linx plans to invest the funds received in the development of its data centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Warsaw, and in LinxCloud cloud services.

The terms of the deal stipulate that the Linxtelecom brand will be leased for 18 months, after which it will have to change its name. The contract is supposed to allow Linx to access the market of China and the Asia-Pacific region as a whole.

"In partnership with CITIC, Linxdatacenter will be able to offer reliable communication, storage and data processing services to Russian customers interested in the presence of China and the Asia-Pacific region in the market. In addition, the deal will provide an influx of Chinese companies as customers to our data centers in Russia, "said Heiko H. Koop.

According to the publication, Linx owns data centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Warsaw. The company's telecommunications network provides communication between the western and eastern parts of Europe.
