History

2023: Data breach of hundreds of thousands of diagnostic laboratory network customers

On May 22, 2023, it became known about the leakage of data from clients of the Citilab network of clinical diagnostic laboratories. She was told in the research company Data Leakage & Break Intelligence (DLBI), specializing in information leaks. According to experts, the merged dump included:

• login;
• FULL NAME;
• e-mail addresses (483 thousand unique addresses);
• telephone (435 thousand unique numbers);
• hashed password;
• gender (not all);
• date of birth (not all);
• date of registration (from 01.01.2007 to 18.05.2023).

Hundreds of thousands of customers of the Citilab network of diagnostic laboratories were leaked

DLBI selectively checked the random email addresses from this leak through the password recovery form on the my.citilab.ru/client/ website and found out that they were all valid. An archive of 1.7 TB is in the public domain, the Telegram channel said in a statement. In addition to user data, the archive contains PDF documents with scanned analyses and studies, as well as contracts and checks.

At the same time, the Citilab company itself refutes the revealed leak.

There is no leak. They attack us several times a day, try to hack, but we have protection, "said Oleg Itskov, general director of the Citylab network.

According to him, the alleged hackers did not demand a ransom, and all services "work normally." The company understands the sources of PDF files that appeared on the network: an investigation was initiated, the laboratory also turned to Roskomnadzor.

According to Vedomosti, the number of data leaks of Russian commercial companies and government agencies in the first four months of 2023 increased 1.5 − 2.5 times. During the specified period, at least 75 leaks from Russian commercial companies and state organizations occurred. This is 1.5 times more compared to the same period in 2022, when 49^[1] were recorded^[2]

2021: Opening a laboratory in Belgrade for 1 million euros

On June 2, 2021, Citylab announced the opening of its first laboratory outside the CIS. She earned in Belgrade (Serbia). Investments in this project amounted to 1 million euros. The total capacity of the new laboratory complex will exceed 3 million samples per year.

According to Oleg Itskov, CEO of Citylab, the laboratory in Belgrade will focus on molecular genetic research and supplement the formed range of Serbian medical and laboratory networks. The company hopes for close cooperation with government treatment facilities, and also plans to integrate with the medical community and implement the most modern examination algorithms, he said.

This is an important step and a new chapter in the life of the company. It is a great honor and responsibility to present Russian laboratory diagnostics abroad, - added Oleg Itskov.

Citylab opened a medical laboratory in Belgrade for 1 million euros

The company expects to significantly reduce the long waiting period for analyzes in the Serbian market, ensuring the issuance of results in one day.

The laboratory in Belgrade became the 10th in the Citilab network. The rest of the facilities are located in Russia and neighboring countries. The company believes that ten of its own laboratory complexes will provide most of the population of the Russian Federation and residents of friendly states with high-quality medical services and demanded laboratory research. The partners include large government and commercial medical organizations, in total - more than 4,000 partners. Sitilab unites more than 330 medical centers located in 140 cities of the Russian Federation (by the beginning of June 2021).

At the beginning of 2021, the company opened a laboratory complex in Ufa with a capacity of up to 800 studies per day, the volume of investments in the project was not disclosed.^[3]

2018: Collaboration with Doctor Smart

In early February 2018, it became known about the cooperation of the Doctor Smart service with  the network of clinical and diagnostic laboratories "Citylab." Thanks to the telemedicine service, Citilab patients will be able to sign up for tests and pay for them, as well as receive an electronic version of the results with comments from the therapist.
