Concept Laser - the German producer of 3D-printers founded in 2000 for corporate, defense, governmental and consumer sectors. The equipment of the company uses corporate technology of layer-by-layer selection laser melting of the metal powders LaserCUSING which is applied to additive manufacturing of parts of difficult construction. LaserCUSING provides wasteless production without metal-cutting tools of developmental samples or serial products from a broad spectrum of reactive and not reactive metal powders.

2016: General Electric buys Concept Laser for $599 million

On October 27, 2016 the electrotechnical concern General Electric (GE) announced Concept Laser purchase after the transaction on acquisition of other producer of 3D technologies - printings – SLM Solutions Group companies broke.

According to the Bloomberg agency with reference to the statement of GE, the corporation buys a 75 percent share in Concept Laser for 599 million dollars. In further GE is going to receive full control over the company. After the conclusion of the transaction the CEO of Concept Laser Frank Herzog will save this position.

GE intends to direct "considerable investments" into business development of Concept Laser in Likhtenfelsa and to make this German city the new center in Germany.

Purchase of Concept Laser became known several days later after GE declared failure to purchase the producer of industrial equipment for laser 3D - SLM Solutions printings. The cost of the transaction which was announced in September, 2016 had to be 683 million euros.

GE did not specify what became the reason of failure of the transaction. According to the The Wall Street Journal edition, increase in an equity of a hedge fund of Elliott Management in SLM Solutions and its statement that "the offer of GE is not equitable to the interests of shareholders of SLM" could affect.[1]
