2026: Hackers disable security company Delta's DNS infrastructure

Delta Security Systems announced on the evening of January 26 that its information infrastructure was exposed to a large-scale external impact.

As a result of the incident, the availability of some online services was temporarily limited, the company's Telegram channel said. - At the same time, at the moment, no signs of compromise of personal data of customers have been identified. Delta's technical team is working in an enhanced mode to restore services and eliminate the consequences of the incident, and specialized experts are involved in the process. The situation is manageable, Delta assesses the potential for an early return of full service functionality as high.[1]

The site of the company, which was located at Delta.ru, turned out to be inaccessible - when trying to enter it, the visitor received an error in the inaccessibility of the company's DNS infrastructure. Indeed, both of its DNS servers, which are located in the same autonomous system owned by the company, were completely unavailable at the same time. This is evidenced, for example, by messages from the 2Whois monitoring system. However, on the morning of January 27, the functionality of DNS servers and the availability of the web server was restored.

Analysis of route trace data shows that the remaining routes to both DNS servers were brought to the same IP address, which belongs to the data center of the Linx operator. The company employees also did not respond to the TAdviser request sent by e-mail to the addresses specified in the Whois system, which is understandable - the MX record, which is responsible for routing e-mail, is also unavailable, since it is located on the same servers.

It should be noted that DNS building rules do not recommend connecting both DNS servers to the same provider. When creating a corporate DNS, it is worth distributing the primary and secondary servers to different providers, and preferably at least the secondary one should be outsourced to an independent operator.
