2022: Sale of UK business
In August 2022, it became known about the sale of the British business of the Russian fast food chain Dodo Pizza. The founder of Dodo Pizza, Fyodor Ovchinnikov, sold his stake in Dodo International Group Limited, which is a legal entity of a restaurant chain in the UK. Ovchinnikov owned at least 75% of the company, but in March 2022 announced his departure from the British market.
In June, Kirill Vyrypaev ceased to be the CFO of Dodo Pizza UK. The new owner of Dodo International Group Limited is David Christopher Sweeney, a former director of the company since its founding in February 2019. He was responsible for the development of the network in the UK.
Dodo Brands said Dodo Pizza's international business is under reorganization. According to a Forbes source, it was decided to sell the business due to the impossibility of developing it after the start of a military special operation in Ukraine. This is due to problems with financing from Russia.
The interlocutor suggests that Sweeney is the temporary owner of Dodo International Group Limited, which will subsequently sell the company to a "real buyer." It will be easier to sell the business to the ultimate beneficiary if the Briton owns it, the source explained.
Fyodor Ovchinnikov in March 2022 announced that he hoped to later return to the kingdom, where he had to stop the construction of a factory for the production of Roman dough and four new pizzerias. Four more have already been opened, but in a week in July their income amounted to only $23,184 - 42% less than in the same period a year earlier. In total, Ovchinnikov invested about $3.6 million in British business.
By August 2022, Dodo Brands operates in 15 countries (except for the Russian Federation, these are, Kazakhstan,, Belarus,, Romania,, Lithuania,, Nigeria,, Kyrgyzstan,, and Great Britain Estonia). Uzbekistan Poland Vietnam Dodo Slovenia China Germany Pizza[1]
