2022: Creation of a company

On February 7, 2022, the Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana announced the creation of a new company Dolce & Gabbana Beauty for the development, as well as its own production and sale of its perfumes and cosmetics. Details were shared with reporters by Director General Alfonso Dolce.

According to him, this step was part of a "long-term strategy in which we strive to consolidate, develop and promote Italian craft and production skills." Previously, the company sold cosmetics and perfumes under licensing agreements concluded with third-party manufacturers.

Dolce & Gabbana launched its own cosmetics and perfumery production

Dolce & Gabbana Beauty will be based in Milan. It will be led by Alfonso Dolce and Gianluca Toniolo. Dolce is the brother of Domenico Dolce, president and CEO of Dolce & Gabbana. Toniolo, who previously served as managing director of global retail to trade LVMH at Perfumes & Cosmetics, joins the team as operations CEO.

According to Dolce, the capital of the new company will be €200-250 million ($514.44 million) due to self-financing and "support from the banking system."

By March 2023, the company will employ about 130-150 people in Italy and another 100-120 abroad.

Toniolo said that the cost of Dolce & Gabbana's cosmetics business is a little more than €1 billion, with most of it coming from perfumes.

He added that the new company's goal was to "double, if not triple" its market share in the perfume sector, strengthen its cosmetics position and develop skin care products that the group still does not have.[1]
