2024: Pharmasintez founder Vikram Punia became the direct owner of the East Farm plant
The founder and president of the Pharmasintez group of companies, Vikram Punia, became the direct controlling owner of medical equipment factories in Ussuriysk and Kaluga. These changes in the ownership structure in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRUL) are reflected at the end of July 2024.
The changes affected OOO EAST-Pharm and OOO Pharmasintez-Medtech. Prior to this date, both companies were 95% owned by Pharmsintez JSC, and 5% were owned by Vikram Punia. Now the control packages (51%) of both enterprises have passed directly to Punia, while the share of Pharmsintez JSC has decreased to 49%.
LLC "EAST-Pharm" is a plant for the production of infusion solutions, located in Ussuriysk, Primorsky Territory. In turn, Pharmasintez-Medtech LLC is a new project of the group for the construction of a medical device plant in the Kaluga Region. Investments in this project are estimated at ₽5 billion. Construction is planned to begin in 2025 on the territory of the Kaluga special economic zone in the Babyninsky district, with the expected completion by 2026.
Since 2022, most of the Pharmsintez Group companies have ceased to disclose financial information about their activities. According to the latest published data for 2021, the revenue of EAST-Pharm LLC amounted to ₽982 million, while the revenue of the parent company of Pharmsintez JSC reached ₽27,1 billion.
Vikram Punia, who is a Russian businessman of Indian origin, is known as the beneficiary of the Farmsintez group. His contribution to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Russia was noted at a high state level. On July 22, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding Punia the Order of Friendship for his labor successes and many years of conscientious work.[1]
2022: Attraction of RUB 0.5 bln
Pharmasintez invests 0.5 billion rubles in the East Farm intravenous nutrition plant in Ussuriysk. The group announced this on February 16, 2022.
Vikram Punia, President of the Pharmasintez Group of Companies, discussed plans to launch a parenteral nutrition workshop at a meeting with the Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako. According to the latter, the new project will be a new stage in the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Primorye. The construction of the plant will provide all medical institutions of the region with such necessary drugs, which are purchased abroad by mid-February 2022, he noted.
In turn, Vikram Punia noted that parenteral nutrition solutions are needed for those patients who cannot eat independently, who are in intensive care units.
We have developed a technology, preclinical trials of such drugs are already underway. And now, on the basis of the East-Pharm company, we are starting to build a new plant in Ussuriysk, investing more than 500 million rubles in the project, - said the head of Farmasintez in mid-February 2022. |
Oleg Kozhemyaka in his Telegram channel clarified that we are talking about the construction of the first plant in Russia for the production of intravenous nutrition for patients in intensive care. The company will start working in Primorye by mid-2023. Kozhemyako added that the regional authorities will support the project. The planned capacity of the new line is 800 million doses per year.
East Farm is one of the few domestic pharmaceutical companies specializing in the production of infusion solutions. According to the SPARK-Interfax system, it was registered in 2003 in the Primorsky Territory.[2]
