2024: Technonicol bought a plastic recycling plant

On September 24, 2024, it became known about the acquisition by the Technonikol holding of a plastic processing plant in Tver, which previously belonged to the EcoPartners group of companies. The transaction is estimated in the range from ₽1,5 to ₽1,6 billion. The plant specializes in the processing of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and low-pressure polyethylene (LPH), and the acquisition will allow the holding to increase its recycling capacity, which is important in the current economic condition.

According to Kommersant, the deal was due to an increase in the key rate of the Central Bank to 19%, which increased the cost of loans for EcoPartners. From this point of view, the sale of the plant was a rational step for the company, as financial obligations on loans increased. The Technonicol holding, on the contrary, carried out the transaction using its own funds, which emphasizes the financial stability of the company and its strategy to expand plastic processing. The new capacity of the plant will allow processing up to 30 thousand tons of secondary raw materials per year, as well as improve the supply of the holding with raw materials for the production of products, including geotextile.

Technonicol
acquired a plastic processing plant from EcoPartners Group of Companies

According to Technonicol, the plant, acquired in September 2023, has already managed to process more than 5.3 thousand tons of secondary plastic, which indicates the high potential of the enterprise. At the moment, the plant's facilities include three lines for the processing of PET bottles into flakes, two lines for the production of regranulate from PET waste and a line for the manufacture of packaging PET tape. In the coming years, the holding plans to invest about ₽700 million in modernizing production to increase productivity.

A significant advantage of this acquisition was that Technonikol creates its own raw material base for business development. This will allow the company not only to reduce dependence on external supplies, but also to use the plant's products for its own needs. At the same time, part of the products will be sold on the foreign market, including for manufacturers of packaging materials.[1]
