Investing ₽140 million in the digitalization of the plant in Chudovo - they will introduce automated logistics and virtual reality

In February 2025, it became known that the Technonikol corporation plans to invest ₽141 million in the development of fiberglass-based mineral insulation production in the city of Chudovo, Novgorod Region, in 2025. The funds will be used to introduce digital technologies and automate logistics processes.

According to Interfax, investments will be made to update equipment and optimize production processes, including projects in the field of automation of logistics using virtual reality technologies.

Technonicol will invest ₽140 million in the digitalization of the plant - they will introduce automated logistics and virtual reality

Plant Director Alexei Chernyshev noted that an important task will be to modernize the finished product warehouse using digital twin technology, which will allow simulating the warehouse in virtual reality and working out various scenarios for shipping products.

The project, planned by the end of 2025, will increase the efficiency of logistics processes and labor productivity in the warehouse by 20%.

During the modernization of the plant, it is planned to update the charge preparation areas, palletizing areas, auxiliary equipment, as well as the loading equipment fleet.

In 2024, the Novgorod plant "Technonikoli" produced 1.4 million cubic meters of finished products. The company produces 415 items of heat and sound insulation for residential, public and industrial buildings.

The products are supplied to five federal districts of Russia: Central, Volga, North-West, Siberian and Ural, and are also exported to Belarus.

In 2024, the volume of investments in the enterprise amounted to ₽40 million. Digitalization of production is part of the company's development strategy aimed at increasing efficiency and competitiveness.

Technonicol operates 70 production sites, 21 training centers and 10 scientific centers. In 2023, the company acquired the assets of the manufacturer of insulating materials "URSA Eurasia," including two fiberglass production sites with a total capacity of 53 thousand tons in Chudov and Serpukhov.[2]

Investing ₽1 billion in digitalization

In January 2025, Technonicol announced plans to invest ₽1 billion in automation of logistics processes at its mineral wool plants. These funds will be used to introduce unmanned loading systems and digital twins, which will increase labor productivity in warehouses by more than 2.5 times, to 180 thousand cubic meters. m per person per year.

As noted by Technonikol, by 2026 the company plans to complete the implementation of a complex of innovative technologies at its factories. In 2024, 275 million rubles have already been invested in the modernization of logistics, including the successful introduction of digital twins at factories in Ryazan and Serpukhov. These digital models enable efficient design and optimization of warehouse and transport nodes. One of the significant achievements was the launch of testing of an automated loading platform in Khabarovsk, which made it possible to halve the loading time of products.

Digital twins play an important role in optimizing logistic processes. At the Ryazan plant, using a digital model of the transport hub, various scenarios for product shipment were tested, throughput was calculated and potential risks were identified. Tatyana Bertova, Logistics Director of Mineral Insulation, noted that "the digital twin is useful in that, without implementing the project, we can work out a new technology and look at all the nuances of its application without large investments." According to her, this allows for more balanced decision-making.

In 2025, similar projects will be completed at factories in Serpukhov and Chudov. By the end of 2026, automation will affect other production facilities of the company located in Belgorod, Zainsk, Krasnoye Sulin, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk and Yurga. The plans include scaling successful pilot projects, such as the Khabarovsk automated loading rack, which has proven effective by doubling the loading speed and minimizing product damage.[3]
