History
2022: Deloitte bought Etain
In mid-February 2022, Deloitte announced the acquisition of Etain. The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.
The deal with Etain will double the size of Deloitte's AI and data solutions practice in Belfast, creating the largest AI and data practices in Northern Ireland. According to Deloitte, this will allow the company to develop, deliver and launch more ambitious data management and digital transformation programs throughout the UK.
Deloitte noted that Etain has completed more than 400 digital transformation projects for a wide range of organizations in both the private and public sectors.
Etain Director Peter Shields noted:
Working as part of Deloitte will allow us to expand the scope of projects that we implement, strengthening the skills of our team in creating complex software solutions with rich experience in working with data and an extensive global network. |
The deal highlights Deloitte's desire to invest in the development of technology centers across the UK. In addition to Belfast, over the past seven years, the company has opened centers in Bristol, Edinburgh and Reading to meet the growing demand for digital support.
By mid-February 2022, the Deloitte branch in Belfast employs more than 1000 people. Currently, Deloitte has two offices in downtown Belfast, including Technology Studio, but in the spring of 2023, Deloitte will open a new office in the linen quarter. On the island of Ireland, Deloitte employs about 3,000 people.[1]
