Since 1991, scientists at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor have developed thousands of methods in the field of molecular diagnostics, more than 200 of them are registered in the Russian Federation and the CIS countries, about 300 diagnostic sets are registered in the European Union and other countries.

The Institute of Epidemiology has developed kits to diagnose all the dangerous natural-focal infections that have ever visited our country - cholera, anthrax, plague, avian and swine influenza. (At the same time, the first developments of competitors appeared two years later, when Russian sets for determining "swine" influenza were already registered.)

Opening of Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics and Respiratory Tract Infections

In January 2022, a laboratory for molecular diagnostics and epidemiology of respiratory tract infections was opened at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, whose head was appointed Svetlana Yatsyshina. Prior to this, she led the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing ARI (NG RNMD ARI).

According to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, the equipped laboratory room covers an area of 180 sq.m. The laboratory is in a separate structure and has all the necessary equipment, taking into account standards for working with nucleic acid amplification methods, the department said.
