History

2024: Opening of a plant for the production of glass insulators for radio electronics in Yuzhnouralsk

In the Chelyabinsk region, on the basis of the South Ural Radio Mechanical Plant, a new production of glassware was launched with a planned capacity of 5 million products per year. This became known in mid-December 2024.

According to Kommersant, the plant is equipped with modern high-performance equipment with a fully automated technological chain. The products are intended both for the domestic market of Russia and for export.

A plant for the production of glass insulators began work in Yuzhnouralsk, Chelyabinsk region

Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexei Teksler said that the launch of the production line will allow the region to become a world leader in the production of insulators, which will significantly strengthen the export potential of the region.

The investor of the project was a production association, Forenergo which plans to create a large technopark on the basis of the radio mechanical plant. It will include foundry, ceramic and composite production, as well as a new workshop for the production of varistors - non-linear resistors for radioelectronic circuits.

The total investment in the creation of the technopark will be at least ₽2,5 billion. The project is being implemented within the framework of the program for the development of the industrial potential of the region and is aimed at ensuring the technological independence of Russia in the field of electrical equipment production.

Glass insulators manufactured at the new facility are designed to effectively isolate power transmission wires from metal supports. They have high dielectric strength and resistance to aggressive environments, including salt aerosols and industrial contaminants.

The company has implemented a quality control system that complies with international standards. All production processes are automated and integrated into a single technological chain, which minimizes the impact of the human factor on the quality of products.

According to the regional government, the launch of new production will create additional jobs for residents of Yuzhnouralsk and nearby settlements. The company will also contribute to the development of related industries in the region.[1]
