The Federal Center for Animal Health (VNIIZH) was founded in 1958 as the All-Union Research Institute of Foot and Mouth Disease (VNIYA).
FSBI "VNIIZH" produces diagnostic kits and vaccines against diseases of cattle, pigs, birds, wild carnivores: more than 100 types of products in total, including about 78 types of vaccines, 21 names of diagnostic kits and 7 names of chemotherapeutic drugs, which are protected by 69 patents of the Russian Federation.

2024: GIS Operator's Appointment in Veterinary Medicine
The Federal Center for Animal Health has been appointed the GIS operator in the field of veterinary medicine instead of the Rosselkhoznadzor. The corresponding decree of the government of the Russian Federation entered into force on September 21, 2024. Read more here.
