Gazprom International is a specialized company of PJSC Gazprom for the implementation of upstream projects outside the Russian Federation.
The history of the company began with the fact that in 1998 OAO Gazprom, RVO Zarubezhneft and OAO Stroytransgaz created a joint venture - Zarubezhneftegaz CJSC to ensure the representation of their interests in foreign projects.
In 2007, Gazprom bought out the shares of partners and renamed its now 100% subsidiary into Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz, which since that time, on behalf and on behalf of Gazprom, has been operating in Central and Southeast Asia, India, as well as in Venezuela. At the same time, for a number of reasons, Gazprom EP International B.V. was registered in the Netherlands at the same time, whose functions also included representing Gazprom's interests outside the Russian Federation, but in regions not covered by Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz's activities. Thus, it turned out that two practically independent companies were engaged in the same thing.
By the end of the 2000s, the need to optimize Gazprom's foreign project activities by creating a single specialized company in its structure became obvious. It was supposed to accumulate the necessary technological, personnel and financial potential for the implementation of foreign upstream projects, as well as ensure the proper efficiency of management, based on the principle of "one window."
On February 4, 2011, it was decided to appoint Gazprom International as such a company, after which, over the next three years, the procedure for merging the assets of Gazprom EP International B.V. and Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz was carried out.
As of October 2017, Gazprom International operates in almost two dozen countries on four continents and participates in the implementation of almost 40 projects of various sizes. Key of them are projects in Algeria, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as in the British, Danish and Dutch sectors of the North Sea shelf. Negotiations are underway on the possible entry into projects on the territory of a number of other states.
The key objectives and functions of Gazprom International are the ownership and effective management of subsidiaries engaged in the exploration, exploration and development of hydrocarbon fields outside the Russian Federation; search, valuation and acquisition of new oil and gas assets in various oil and gas producing regions of the world; in project management and operational control; representing Gazprom's interests in relations with foreign state and private oil and gas companies.
In the production sector, Gazprom International provides a whole range of services, including exploration and drilling, construction of industrial power facilities, including pipelines and compressor stations, as well as all elements of their associated infrastructure.
