The government commission on strengthening of national cyber security of the USA (U.S. Government Commission on Information Security or Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity) is created in 2016 for regulation of the questions connected with personal data protection and information security support of the country.

The former head of IBM became the head of the government cybersecurity commission
In the middle of February, 2016 the U.S. President Barack Obama appointed heads of the government commission on strengthening of national cyber security (Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity). The former CEO of IBM Sam Palmisano and the ex-adviser for national security Tom Donilon became them.
According to The Associated Press, Tom Donilon is appointed by the chairman of this commission, and Sam Palmisano — the vice-chairman. At the same time the Reuters agency calls both Donilon, and Palmisano heads of the government commission in information security field (cybersecurity) which 12 people entered.[1]
Barack Obama noted that Tom Donilon will direct the government cybersecurity commission from a position of national security, and Sam Palmisano — from a position of private business and non-profit organizations.[2]
By December 1, 2016 this commission should provide results of the activity and create offers on several important issues.
In particular, it is about improvement of methods of management of authentication and cyber defense in online transactions, development approaches of adaptive national standards of security of Internet of Things and cloud services and also about financings of research and development for gain of cyber security and the strategy of improvement of knowledge of the population of cyberthreats and explanations of methods of protection for citizens.
As Barack Obama noted in the statement, the Internet brought many improbable opportunities and riches, however at the same time people faced the growing risk of leak of personal information.
Now we are not so well organized as had to for effective opposition to all these threats. The American people understand this problem and the fact that it will only grow — the president of the United States said. |
Creation of a position of the federal cybersecurity director
On February 9, 2016 the U.S. President Barack Obama announced formation of the government commission on strengthening of national cyber security and creation of a position of the federal head, the first in the history of the country, on data protection.

The new government commission which was created by Obama will make detailed recommendations about strengthening of security in the state and private sectors, personal data protection and to ensuring public, economic and national security.
The U.S. President also asked the Congress to select $19 billion for information security support (cybersecurity) in 2017 financial year that is 35% more than such budget of previous year.
These investments, according to Barack Obama, are necessary for the future of the country. The head of state also noted that federal structures of the power use already outdated computer systems, and crucial information is poorly protected from the attacks of malefactors.
To that confirmation is large leak of personal data of employees of the American intelligence agencies. In February, 2016 the hacker group provided to Twitter social network as DotGovs published a contact information of 20 thousand staff of the American Federal Bureau of Investigation and 9 thousand employees of the ministry of national security of the USA.
With respect thereto also other similar incidents $3.1 billion for upgrade of information technologies in the different federal agencies are going to budget the USA and to create programs of permanent diagnostics and elimination of risks. The number of the groups providing cyber security on single questions will be increased up to 48.
At last, the position of the federal cybersecurity head will be created. Who will occupy it, by February 9, 2016 is not reported.
