2025: The largest poultry producer in Russia, GAP Resource, bought Gulyai-Borisovskaya
At the end of October 2025, it became known that the Resource group of agricultural enterprises (GAP Resurs) acquired the Gulyai-Borisovskaya poultry farm in the Zernograd district of the Rostov region from the Ural-Don agricultural holding. Information on the value of the transaction was not disclosed.
GAP "Resource" is the largest producer of poultry meat in Russia. The company's production assets are located in several federal districts of the Russian Federation, and the equipment used provides ample opportunities for the production of products in various types of packaging, with different storage conditions, methods of preparation and shelf life. In 2024, the company produced 1.07 million tons of live poultry meat and exported 182 thousand tons of poultry meat products. GAP "Resource" is also engaged in the production of lamb, pork, dairy farming, produces sausages and vegetable oils.
Until the conclusion of the deal with the Ural-Don agricultural holding on the purchase of the Gulyai-Borisovskaya poultry farm, there was no egg production in the asset of the Resource GAP. This poultry farm stopped work after the outbreak of bird flu in December 2021: then the company had to kill all the chickens and destroy the products. According to "City N," the owner decided not to resume production and put the object up for sale.
Market participants emphasize that the profitability of egg poultry remains low due to high competition among egg suppliers and overproduction. Chain stores do not seek long-term fixed-price contracts. Experts also note that in this situation it is not advisable to have only one poultry farm. With the operation of several such industries, it becomes possible to reduce costs, develop their own incubation (it is unprofitable for one factory to have its own incubator), build large feed plants, etc.[1]
