According to the rating of "Rambler Top-100", the weekly average number of viewings the Gzt.ru pages made at the end of April — the middle of May, 2010 of 5.6 — 6.4 million pages. In similar time of 2011 the number of viewings pages decreased to 2.7 — 3.1 million.

But in April, 2011 the website became the most quoted Internet resource in blogs and managed to strengthen considerably the positions in respect of quoting on TV and radio, having reached the fourth place.

History

• In September, 2001 there was first issue of the Gazeta newspaper — the daily Russian social and political edition. Ruff Shakirov, then Mikhail Mikhaylin was the Chief Editor of Newspaper.

• In 2005 Newspaper passed to full-color printing. The post of the Chief Editor was held by Pyotr Fadeyev, since January, 2009 it was succeeded by his former deputy Sergey Muravyev.

• Since April 1, 2010 the paper Newspapers version stopped the existence. The edition website - Gzt.ru continued to work. In the newspaper there took place numerous staff movements and staff reductions.

With closing of the paper version work of edition changed, employees recognize. "Journalists of the edition disappeared from government and Kremlin pools, employees left, budgets and the fees were reduced" — the journalist of the edition says.

"Paper Newspaper was done by 70 — 80 people and freelancers. 25 — 30 journalists work on the website" — tell in edition.

• In May, 2011 it became known that the Gazeta newspaper after the paper version closes the Internet portal Gzt.ru. Shareholders of the edition do not manage to find buyers for an asset till May 31. But negotiations continue, approve the sources close to sellers^[1].

On May 31 the editorial office of the Gzt.ru online newspaper stops existence. "We are ready to leave. The source aware of plans of shareholders of Gzt.ru claims that search of the investors interested in purchase of the edition continues. "There are negotiations and search" — told a source.

"Say to us that negotiations on sale of the edition are conducted., It seems, the new buyer appeared recently" — the high-ranking editorial office employee tells. Recently in Gzt.ru there were structural changes. "There passed the re-registration of the legal entity. Instead of edition "Daily Newspaper" GZT. Ru LLC was created" — the interlocutor of Gazeta.ru reports, assuming that it was made to prepare the newspaper for sale. But till May 31 it is impossible to process documents for sale of the edition therefore edition will leave.

"We up to the end hoped that we will be asked to wait, not to look for few weeks other work, will promise that right after sale of the newspaper the majority will be withdrawn, however even no similar requests arose" — other employee of the edition is disappointed.
