2023: Building a clinic for children with epilepsy

On September 6, 2023, it became known about the decision of the Region Group of Companies to build a clinic in Moscow for the treatment of children with epilepsy. The project is being implemented by the MISP company created by the group. The area of the medical center will be 16,000 square meters, and the height is 40 meters.

The head of Moskomstroyinvest Anastasia Pyatova explained that it is planned to conduct a comprehensive examination of patients here, to provide conservative and surgical treatment to patients with epilepsy. Also here they will deal with the problems and peculiarities of the development of the children's brain.

Providing citizens with high-quality social infrastructure is one of the priority tasks of the capital's government, which Sergei Sobyanin has repeatedly spoken about. Such facilities as medical centers and clinics not only make medical services more accessible, but also create additional jobs, "Anastasia Pyatova emphasized.

According to Vladimir Geraskin, partner of the DMG medical consulting company, the construction of a medical center in Moscow could cost Region 3-3.2 billion rubles. Geraskin considered the direction itself promising, since there are few effective treatments for epilepsy, but noted that the throughput of such a building is large, and there are not many patients with epilepsy. Even fewer paying patients, since we are talking about expensive operations, Geraskin added.

The prevalence of epilepsy in Russia is 3.4 cases per thousand people over 14 years old, the Ministry of Health indicated in the clinical recommendations "Epilepsy and epileptic status in adults and children" in 2022. For the payback of such a project, "Region" requires state co-financing. For example, in the form of payment for treatment at the rates of compulsory medical insurance or quotas allocated for high-tech medical care at the expense of state funds, Geraskin believes. According to him, the center can be focused not only on Russians, but also on patients from neighboring countries.[1]
