History
2018
According to the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation of May 30, 2018 No. 1055-r INASAN it is transferred from maintaining FASO Russia to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of science and the higher education of the Russian Federation (Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation).
2003
According to the Federal law of September 27, 2013 No. 253-FZ "About the Russian Academy of Sciences, reorganization of the state academies of Sciences and making changes in separate legal acts of the Russian Federation" and the order of the Government of the Russian Federation of December 30, 2013 the No. 2591-r Institute it is transferred to the jurisdiction of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (FASO Russia).
1990
At the end of 1990 it was transformed to Institute of astronomy of Academy of Sciences of the USSR (The resolution of Presidium of Academy of Sciences of the USSR No. 1327 of December 11, 1990), and later – to Institute of astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
1936
The institute was created according to the resolution of Presidium of Academy of Sciences of the USSR of December 20, 1936 (protocol No. 27) as Astronomical council of Academy of Sciences of the USSR and for many years performed coordination of researches in the field of land optical astronomy which were conducted to the USSR by the astronomical organizations belonging to both Academy of Sciences, and other departments.
