Institute of UNESCO on information technologies in education (IITO)

The institute of UNESCO on information technologies in education (IITO) located in the city of Moscow of the Russian Federation was created according to the solution of the 29th session of the UNESCO General Conference (November, 1997) and is structural division of UNESCO.

Within the status and the IITO functions concentrates efforts on assistance in overcoming a digital divide in education and creation of inclusive societies of knowledge by strengthening of the national capacity in information technology field for the purpose of expansion of access to education and to training at an extent of all life. The institute is the only organization UNESCO specializing in an ICT scope in education and having the huge potential of resources in the field.

Institute of UNESCO on information technologies in education and SAP company signed the Agreement on cooperation in the field of education and ICT

In April, 2016 the SAP company and Institute of UNESCO on information technologies in education (IITO) signed the agreement on cooperation in the field of dissemination of knowledge and best practices of ICT. The purpose of joint programs – to prepare and implement digital economy rates, to make knowledge of modern technologies available everywhere, including rural areas and hardly accessible regions, up to the Arctic and the Polar region, to help with training in physically disabled people and special needs, to develop a social entrepreneurship.

IITO UNESCO and SAP will start distribution and development of training courses and trainings on digital economy for schools, colleges and universities using global SAP expertize in this area and methodical support of IITO UNESCO. All rates and materials will be available both to basic schools and departments of UNESCO, and other educational institutions. Development of programs of increase in the ICT level of employee competence of education using the e-learning tools of UNESCO SAP and IITO company is provided. Besides, the SAP company will take part in creation of the multivendor Education technology innovation center where developments and SAP expertize in the field of Internet of Things will be provided. Courses will also be conducted under the auspices of the global academic program "University Alliance SAP" in which the leading universities of the world participate. In Russia it works since 2004, already more than 50 thousand students from Russia and the CIS countries during this time were trained, 85 universities became members of Alliance.
