2022: Flights without babies appeared in Russia

IrAero Airlines launched the first flight in Russia, on which babies are not allowed. This became known at the end of August 2022.

Children from 0 to 2 years old are not allowed on board, which follows the route Irkutsk - Mirny - Irkutsk. As the carrier explained to the radio station "Moscow Says," the requirements were introduced at the request of the customer.

These flights are charter, the customer has set such age restrictions. These are not our requirements, the company said.

This flight is mainly used by shift workers, respectively, they move to their place of work and back without their families and children.

Previously, such restrictions have not yet been applied in domestic air transportation. It is only known that some airlines introduced "quiet zones" in the cabin, where passengers with children are not allowed.

There are constantly proposals to create special places for families with children - as there used to be, for example, smoking salons. Many are ready to pay extra for flights "only for adults."

The tourist information service Airfarewatchdog.com conducted a survey of more than 4,000 travelers - 52% expressed the opinion that families with children under 10 should sit in a separate part of the plane.

Earlier, Japanese airlines Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways introduced a new service - when booking tickets, they warn that children under the age of two will be among the passengers. The places that parents and babies will take are indicated by a special icon on the aircraft cabin diagram. By focusing on this information, people who are annoyed by children's crying can choose places away from restless passengers.

You can see icons only when ordering tickets on the official websites of air carriers. When booking with third-party resources, the service is not available, the Japan Times reported.[1]
