The international airport Irkutsk is airport terminal of Siberian Federal District, nodal port of regional and international transport.

History

2020: 5.3 billion rubles are going to select for upgrade of the airport of Irkutsk

5.3 billion rubles are going to select for upgrade of the airport of Irkutsk, the press service of the government of the region reports in August, 2020.

So far it is not a total sum on accomplishment of all necessary works. The agreement of the regional power with the federal center is previously reached upon possible joint financing in the amount of 5.3 billion rubles from the federal budget. "Aeroport of Regions", Novaport holding and Aeroport Development can become possible co-investors.

Meanwhile the acting the governor of the region Igor Kobzev charged to the government of the Irkutsk region to select till November 30, 2020 the platform under construction of the new airport and also until the end of the year to organize competition at the choice of the investor for construction works.

The international airport of Irkutsk services more than 2 million passengers a year. In August, 2018 in the territory of the air harbor put a stone in the basis of the new terminal which was going to be constructed until the end of 2020, however works did not begin because of objections of Federal Antimonopoly Service. The government of the region stated that the terminal will be constructed by Novaport and "aero Ramport" then antimonopoly department initiated proceedings about violation of the law because investors were selected without tender.

2004 - 2014

July 14, 2004.

The airfield of Irkutsk received the certificate on admission to the international flights and landing on a minimum of the 1st category of ICAO.

January, 2005.

At the end of 2004 the enterprise was entitled "The Best Airport of Russia and CIS Countries".

October 14, 2008.

The works on lengthening of a runway are completed. Now its length is 3,565 meters. It allows to accept all types of aircrafts, including the heavy Boeing-747, Il-86 and Il-96.

April 10, 2009.

After large-scale reconstruction the updated terminal of internal aerial lines which is called Crystal gate of Irkutsk opened.

December 3, 2010.

The airport of Irkutsk serviced the million passenger in a year. Before within 15 years the passenger traffic did not exceed a million mark.

March 1, 2011.

By Federal State Unitary Enterprise Irkutsk Airport it is transformed to JSC International Airport Irkutsk

November 21, 2011.

The first stage of works on reconstruction of a runway is complete.

June 5, 2012.

JSC International Airport Irkutsk recognized by the winner of competition "The best airport of the CIS countries" in the Dynamically Developing Airport nomination.

October 16, 2012.

At the airport of Irkutsk the heavy transport airplane Il-96-400T which is capable to transport 92 tons of a load for the first time landed. Acceptance and service of such liners opens the new page in work of the airport.

2013

JSC International Airport Irkutsk got permission of Federal Air Transport Agency to acceptance and service of the Boeing-747 airplanes. Before aircrafts of this kind made landing in Irkutsk only in case of emergency.

December 20, 2013.

JSC International Airport Irkutsk met the polutoramillionny passenger in a year. It happened for the first time for all Post-Soviet history of the enterprise.

July 21-22, 2014.

For the first time at the Irkutsk airport the A-340 A-330 and Airbus Airbus aircrafts made landing. Safe landing and operational service of these airplanes confirmed a high class of the airport and its capability to accept aircrafts of all types.

1925 - 1994

June 24, 1925.

In Irkutsk made landing of 6 airplanes which made grandiose flight on route MoscowIrkutsk – Ulaanbaatar – Beijing. I.P. Schmidt directed it. This event gave start to the beginning of aviation mastering of Siberia. On June 24, 1925 it is announced in the afternoon of the airport of Irkutsk.

May, 1928.

In the mouth of the Ushakovki River near Znamensky Monastery it is open gidroport Irkutsk. Takes off and landing of airplanes were performed from water.

August 10-13, 1928.

The first passenger-and-mail flight en route Irkutsk-Bodaibo is performed. Flight went on Yu-13 seaplane Moscow Council. In way he made stops in the large settlements located on Angara.

August, 1932.

The largest is open at that time in the world an aviaroute Moscow – Vladivostok. The Irkutsk pilots executed flights on section Irkutsk – Mogocha.

January-April, 1934.

The Irkutsk pilots took part in rescue of passengers and the crew of the Chelyuskin ice breaker which got stuck in ices, and then sank in the Arctic Ocean.

August 18, 1935.

In honor of day of the air fleet in Irkutsk the first parade of airplanes is for the first time held. Citizens saw 14 aircrafts.

January, 1948.

Regular round-the-clock flights on aerial lines Irkutsk – Moscow, Irkutsk – Bodaibo – Yakutsk are begun.

December 30, 1954.

The resolution of Council of Ministers of the USSR the airport of Irkutsk received the status of international. The first flight was performed to Beijing.

September 15, 1956.

The USSR's first passenger airline Moscow - Irkutsk by the reactive TU-104 airplane is open. Flight was performed by the Moscow crew under the leadership of the commander E.P. Barabash.

March 7, 1975.

In Irkutsk there arrived the first airplane of the second generation of the reactive civilian TU-154 passenger airliners. Long time this liner was the basic for carrying out distant trunk flights.

November 11, 1980.

In Irkutsk there arrived the first Il-76 airplane capable to take aboard 40 tons of a load. On December 19, 1980 it performed the first flight to the settlement Polar.

As a result of reorganization of the Irkutsk joint aviagroup the Irkutsk Airport enterprise is formed.

October 28, 1994.

The airport of Irkutsk received the certificate of the Interstate Aviation Committee of the Russian Federation on carrying out the international flights.

December 16, 1994.

The terminal of the international aerial lines is open.
