2021: Progress buys EMC IT load balancing software developer for $258 million

In September 2021, Progress, which helps enterprises deliver, optimize, and protect applications and networks in any cloud or hybrid environment, announced the acquisition of Kemp for $258 million. The transaction, which the buyer will pay with its own funds (without attracting shares), is planned to close about a month after its announcement, that is, in October.

With the takeover of Kemp, Progress intends to expand its product portfolio in DevOps, application development, Data Connectivity, and Digital Experience.

Today, more than ever before, companies realize that their applications should always be available and have high performance, "says Progress CEO Yogesh Gupta. - Kemp's products meet this particular need and complement our portfolio of best-in-class products for developing, deploying, and managing highly efficient applications.

Kemp Loadmaster and Flowmon Network Visibility monitor application performance and distribute and balance traffic and workloads across servers, the cloud, or the local infrastructure, providing high performance and availability. They do this by using machine learning to detect anomalies and alert IT professionals before it affects end users.

Gupta says these capabilities complement Progress products, including WhatsUp Gold, which, according to the head of Progress, is the market leader in easy-to-use network management. As a result of combining technologies, it will be possible to offer "the best solution for working with applications in the market," he added.[1]
