Activity indicators

2019: Delivery of more than 13.3 million SSD in the first half of the year

On October 7, 2019, it became known that Kingston Digital delivered more than 13.3 million solid-state drives in the first half of 2019 . Such data was published by the research company TrendFocus. This figure puts Kingston in third place among global SSD suppliers after semiconductor manufacturers Samsung and Western Digital. Kingston delivered 11.3% of the total number of SSDs sold worldwide during the first half of the year.

TrendFocus studies show a constant increase in the total supply of solid state drives in all categories in 2019. Our data showed that client SSDs make up the bulk of the modules shipped, while NVMe PCIe sales also grow with demand in scalable environments. The trend of the first half of 2019 is that NAND deliveries are rising and prices have reached the bottom. This stimulates demand for SSD.

In addition to the customer sector, Kingston is also winning the corporate SSD market. Later in 2019, the company will expand its portfolio with the DC1000M U.2 NVMe solid-state drive, designed for data centers and workstations that require higher throughput and more operations per second. This model will be part of a family of enterprise SSDs focused on both read-intensive and mixed-load server environments, and is suitable for organizations that require predictable quality of service (QoS) and stable performance.

1987-1989

Kingston Technology Founders - David Sun and John Tu

1987 - foundation of the company

The growth and active development of Kingston Technology was due to the lack of memory chips with surface mounting in the market of high-tech devices in the 80s of the XX century. Founders of the company John Tu and David Sun carried out purposeful search of the solution of this problem. Using their unique experience as development engineers, they created a fundamentally new single-row memory module (SIMM) that used older generation components with metallized through holes. The joint work of the founding fathers made it possible to create a new technology, a new industry standard and a new company, which began its activities in October 1987.

1989

Kingston is the first competitor to go to 100 percent testing of all products, which ensures high quality and a leading position in the market.
