The Kuaishou company was founded in 2011, having provided mobile application under the name GIF Kuaishou which allowed users to create the animated images (GIF). Also the service allows to post short videos.

2020-2021

According to Kuaishou, for the first nine months 2020 service had 262.4 million active users a day, in comparison with 165.2 million for the same period in 2019. The monthly number of the paying users grew from 48.5 million to 59.9 million people for the same period.

The company earns means in several ways:

1. Forward translations. The main source of income of the company which assumes purchase by users of service of virtual gifts from Kuaishou for streamers. Revenue from forward translations for the first nine months 2020 made 25.31 billion yuans that makes about 62% of total sales.

2. Advertizing and internet marketing. Promotion services brought the companies of 13.34 billion yuans (in nine months 2020) - an indicator more than 200% more, than in 2019. Advertizing makes about 32% of total sales.

3. E-commerce and games. Service gives to users an opportunity to buy from online streamers different objects through the Kuaishou application. For the first nine months 2020 through the application it was carried out transactions for the amount of 204.06 billion yuans that is 1100% more, than in 2019.

Kuaishou is also a competitor of Douyin, the Chinese application version for exchange of short videos of TikTok managed by Internet giant ByteDance. Douyin has 600 million active users a day.

History

2021: Entry into the exchange, assessment in $182.8 billion

On February 5, 2021 the main competitor of TikTok, the Chinese video service of Kuaishou, came to the Hong Kong stock exchange. The total cost of the company is estimated at $182.8 billion. Kuaishou share value at the first biddings grew three times from initial 115 ($14.83) to 345 ($53) Hong Kong dollars.

During IPO service attracted 41.3 billion Hong Kong dollars ($5.4 billion). If Kuaishou issues additional stocks — under the terms of placement it has an option for an additional issue in case of high demand on actions — that the attracted amount will grow to $6 billion according to Eikon Refinitiv, this largest technology IPO in the world from the moment of placement of Uber in May, 2019.[1]

As of February, 2021 Kuaishou has 769 million active users a month.

2013-2016

In 2013 the company started the platform for creation and the publication of short videos including functions of social networks, in 2016 service began to support forward translations.
