History

2024: Plant Restart

The former plant of the German manufacturer of car kits Leoni in the Nizhny Novgorod region resumed work under the new name Zavod Link LLC. In July 2024, the enterprise, located in the city of Zavolzhye, again began to produce automotive components after the change of ownership and the necessary preparatory measures.

According to Interfax, citing the press service of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the plant, formerly known as Leoni Rus LLC, was one of the three leading manufacturers of wire harnesses in Russia. However, in 2022, production was stopped by decision of foreign shareholders.

The revival of the enterprise became possible thanks to the acquisition of its assets by a Nizhny Novgorod investor in 2024. The new owner, assessing the market prospects and the potential for the development of automotive industry in the country, decided to resume production.

The design capacity of the Link Plant is 300 thousand car kits per year, but it is planned to reach full load no earlier than 2025. In 2024, the company intends to produce 50 thousand car kits, gradually increasing production volumes.

Ilya Chernev, the owner of the plant, announced plans to develop full-cycle engineering competencies. In 2024, the company's specialists are developing wire harnesses for the Atom electric car, the deliveries of which are scheduled for 2025. In addition, negotiations are underway with the Belarusian-Chinese enterprise BelJi and the Ural automobile plant.

The main partner of the Link Plant is currently AvtoVAZ. The company produces wire harnesses for various models of Lada cars.

The resumption of the plant became possible after its acquisition by Nizhny Novgorod LLC Impulse in February 2024. Previously, the company belonged to the French Leoni Wiring Systems France (62.49%) and the German companies Leoni Bordnetz-Systeme GmbH (37.49%) and Leoni Bordnetze Verwaltungs GmbH (0.015%).[1]
