2025: Signing an agreement to build an exhibition center for ₽18 billion

The Nizhny Expo exhibition center worth ₽18 billion will be built in Nizhny Novgorod near the Chkalov International Airport. The agreement on the implementation of the project on June 20, 2025 was signed by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and JSC "UK" Airports of the Regions. " The new congress and exhibition complex will become part of the infrastructure development of the region and will be focused on holding business events of the federal and international level.

According to Kommersant, the document was signed by Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Egor Polyakov and Director for Interaction with Government Agencies of the Airports of Regions Management Company Roman Alexandrov.

The area of ​ ​ the complex will be more than 100 thousand square meters. m. The Nizhny Expo will include an expocenter, a congress center and hotels with related infrastructure.

Polyakov said that the exhibition center will be designed for events at all levels. The complex will allow large-scale business events in the region. As part of the agreement, the company will assist the regional government in developing documentation on the planning of the territory of the future expo center. Project funding sources and model are in the process of being determined.

Earlier, Kommersant-Volga Region reported on the negotiations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation with the Airports of Regions Management Company on the construction of a congress center in December 2024. The company considered the possibility of implementing the project in the region.

Plans for the construction of a congress center in the Nizhny Novgorod region were presented by the leadership of the region to the chairman of the VEB.RFIgory Shuvalov in 2019. The initial project involved the creation of an object with an area of ​ ​ 42 thousand square meters. m.

Investments in the initial project were estimated at ₽20 billion with an estimated payback period of 17 years. The project included the placement of the All-Russian Institute for Increasing Labor Productivity.^[1]
