Participants

At the time of creation of the union in 2014 the participation in it was confirmed by the companies:

• MTS,
• ER-Telecom,
• VimpelCom,
• MegaFon (to be exact, its child structure Megalabs),
• CTC Media and
• ProfMedia.

According to unconfirmed data, also entered into the union structure of Rostelecom and "National Media group".

2016

Pavel Stepanov releases Sergey Petrov from the CEO's duty

In February, 2016 the president of the Media communication union Sergey Petrov is appointed the head of subgroup "The Internet + media" as a part of the Working group of the Russian President Administration on use of the Internet in domestic economy.

Since August 1, 2016 the CEO of film company "Central Partnership" (enters into Gazprom Media) Pavel Stepanov became the new president of the Media communication union (ISS). It released the deputy CEO of CTC Media Sergey Petrov from this duty.

It is noted that Sergey Petrov, in turn, became the chairman of the board of the ISS. Earlier this position was held by Sobolev Oganes, but in June, 2016 he headed the National advertizing alliance founded by the largest Russian media holdings, among which VGTRK, Channel One, Gazprom Media and "National Media group". The alliance was created for consolidation of sales of TV advertizing on the largest channels.

Preparation of laws on prohibition for foreigners on ownership of online movie theaters and on regulation of messengers

At this time Media communication union was a coauthor of the adopted laws on restrictions for ownership of foreigners of online movie theaters and regulation of activity of messengers. The Roskomsvoboda resource calls association by the coauthor of one more law: on regulation of work of VPN services though in the ISS communication with this document deny^[1].

2015: The offer on prohibition of one of fundamental internet protocols for fight against torrent trackers

The ISS is known that in 2015 it suggested to prohibit one of the fundamental internet protocols UDP for fight against torrent trackers.

2014: Creation of the union led by Sergey Petrov

In February, 2014 it became known of creation of Media communication union. The new association is going "develop offers on the strategy of development for the industry and improvement of the legislation". Also she was going to be engaged in development of the principles on delivery, use of content and protection it from pirates and to create the uniform quality standards.

Sergey Petrov, the Deputy CEO of CTC Media became the president of NP MKS, and the chairman of the board — the director of the fixed business and MTS TV Dmitry Bagdasaryan.

It was reported that the interests of Media communication union will not be crossed with two largest industry associations of Russia — National association of television and radio broadcasting companies and Association of cable television of Russia as the union will represent the interests of exclusively large players while activity of HAT and AKTP is directed in addition to large players also to small regional operators, broadcasters.
