As Interfax clarifies with reference to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (Unified State Register of Legal Entities), Meril Innovations was registered in the Nizhny Novgorod Region in June 2025. It is 100% owned by the Indian Meril Life Sciences Private Limited, which specializes in the manufacture of medical equipment such as stents, cylinders, catheters, implantable heart rate monitors, artificial joints, robotic surgical systems, endoscopes, trocars, laboratory diagnostic tests, etc.

The special economic zone of the industrial and production type "Kulibin," on the territory of which the company "Meryl Innovations" is going to launch the production of knee and hip implants, offers residents preferential conditions. Thus, income tax rates were reduced from 20% to 2% in the first 5 years from the moment of receiving the first profit, to 5% in the next 5 years and 14.5% subsequently, as well as zero rates on taxes on property, land and transport tax. By September 23, 2025, the expert council approved the implementation of 45 projects with a total investment of about 144 billion rubles. The regional government said that the state SEZ site is practically full.[1]
