At the exhibition "Electric Networks of Russia-2012" held in Moscow in December 2012, Micronica demonstrated to visitors the current model of a digital substation created on the basis of international standards of the IEC 61850 series. The introduction of such a technological solution makes it possible to significantly increase the reliability of the substation by means of self-diagnostics of terminals and information networks with the possibility of early diagnosis of abnormal equipment operation modes, elimination of unauthorized and incorrect personnel actions, use of fiber-optic communication lines, and much more.

Today, a significant number of pilot projects related to the introduction of substation automation and protection equipment using the IEC 61850 standard have been completed worldwide, showing the advantages of modern digital technologies. Russian developments in the field of substation automation allow us to develop domestic production and eliminate dependence on foreign solutions, take into account all the necessary energy security requirements. Studies of technical and economic indicators allow us to conclude that the cost of a new solution when switching to serial production does not exceed the cost of traditional solutions for building automation systems, and for some indicators - such as design, installation, supply of CAS and commissioning work - will be much cheaper.
