Recognition as the only provider of services for connecting social significant objects to the Internet in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions

In December 2022, it became known that the Russian mobile operator Mirtelecom was determined by the sole executor of services for connecting socially significant objects (SZO) to the Internet in the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.

This was reported by Vedomosti with reference to a document signed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko. The publication notes that the draft government order determining the status of Mirtelecom was to be prepared by the Ministry of Digital Science and approved on December 6, 2022.

MirTelecom became the only provider for connecting socially significant objects to the Internet in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions

Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov, in an interview with the newspaper, noted that by December 2022, mobile and cable Internet was mainly operating in the regions. According to the expert, there is no talk of GPON and EPON networks in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Equipment for the construction of networks in the region, according to Kuskov, comes from Russia: both used and, possibly, parallel imports.

Connecting socially significant objects to the Internet has been carried out in Russia since 2019 as part of the Digital Economy national project. These include schools, feldsher-midwife stations, bodies state and municipal authorities, units, National Guard of the Russian Federation fire departments, district police stations and territorial election commissions. Beginning of work in Kharkiv region

In the territories of the Kharkiv region controlled by Russia, the first Russian mobile operator, MirTelecom, began work. The director of the company Andrei Makarov announced this on August 11, 2022.

We understand how important a connection with relatives and friends, colleagues and partners is for a modern person, and therefore the mission that we see for ourselves today is to give a peaceful connection to every resident of the region, he said (quoted by the Kharkov Z Telegram channel).

MirTelecom earned in Kharkiv region

As specified in the military-civil administration (CAA) of the Kharkiv region, MirTelecom opened sales offices in Volchansk, Kupyansk, Kupyansk-Uzlovoy and in the urban-type settlement Kovsharovka. In the future, it is also planned to connect the settlements of Dvurechnaya, Izyum, Borovaya, Veliky Burluk and Cossack Lopan to the network. According to Andrei Makarov, the company's immediate plans are to cover all settlements of the liberated territory with communication.

In addition, the mobile operator plans to restore the wireless broadband Internet access system, provide IPTV service, and convert the fixed telephone network to digital format.

According to TASS on August 11, 2022, under the control of the forces of the Russian Federation and the Luhansk People's Republic, there is part of the Kharkiv region with district administrations in Volchansk, Izyum, Kupyansk and the village of Kazachya Lopan, subordinate to the regional state administration. According to the head of the All-Russian State Administration Vitaly Ganchev, 20% of the region's territory has been liberated. Mobile communication in the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region is almost completely absent.

As Vitaly Ganchev said in July 2022, Russian telecom operators will begin working in the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region until the fall of 2022. MirTelecom began working in some districts of the Zaporizhzhya region on July 13, 2022, and a week later opened four offices in the Kherson region.[2]
